UPDATE (12/19/2023) I'm sorry to say I have to change my review from 5 stars to 1 star. I'm leaving my previous review below to show that after working with the owners, we resolved the miscommunication issue and I gave them a very positive review. When they left our house back in October, I told them they have a customer for life. I owed up to my part of the miscommunication, apologized and ever offered them tickets to an NFL game. Today, we called to request an oil delivery and were told no, they will not deliver to us any longer. Leaving a senior citizen at risk of running out of heating oil when the temps are dropping into the 20s at night. Really? I was man enough to apologize for my part of the misunderstanding, gave them a very nice review and they left us in the cold. Never asked for anything in return except to have a positive business relationship with them. Bottom line is, if you disagree with them, keep your mouth shut or be prepared with a backup supplier. Fortunately, we called another provider and got an oil delivery the same day, which is very unusual in the winter. Removed the last few sentences about the warranty company due to space. UPDATE (10/19/2023) Two of the owners made a courtesy call this morning to enable our furnace and review the issues. This is a busy time of year for HVAC businesses with winter coming in. Very appreciative of their time to ensure their customers are informed and assure them of the work they performed. I've written praises for various businesses and I've been critical of others. When a business takes the time to actually read their reviews and take the extra step to resolve a customer issue, that says volumes about the integrity of their business. Taking the time to personally come out and address a customer issue is exceptional. Thank you Burtonsville Fuel, I look forward to a long-term relationship for our home heating oil needs. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm updating my review based on the conversation with the owner and the detailed response here which impressed me. I want to clarify that I purchased a service agreement with Burtonsville, not a warranty. I have a home warranty that covers all the appliances in the house which includes in addition to the furnace, the A/C, washing machine, clothes dryer, microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher, electric, plumbing, roof leaks and more. It is not a service contract to clean the furnace burners. While steal is a harsh word, my honest belief was that he took some parts as the means to to disable the furnace because he refused to explain how it would be disabled and he did not demonstrate that the furnace ran after re-assembling it. If he had, this misunderstanding could have been avoided. (BTW, I have Ring cameras in our foyer and my office, which is where I was when they reassembled the furnace burner. I'm happy to share with you to show that I never went downstairs when they returned until hours after they left. The videos clearly show I was on the phone in my office when they came up and said they were finished. ) This lead to my belief that the end cone and other parts were not re-installed as the means to disable the unit since I never saw the unit run again. My home warranty covers break downs, but if a part is missing, that is not covered leading to my concern that the warranty company would not honor my claim if they could not see and evaluate the worn part. I was really worried the parts were not re-installed as the means of keeping the furnace disabled and that the parts would then be disposed. Some of the comments below about this incident are incorrect, but I don't want to dwell on those. I'm impressed with the detailed response and that you take these reviews seriously, the owner's willingness to come out and re-enable the furnace is a big plus. This shows you are a business willing to make things right with their customers.
