I grew up reading the Baltimore Sun, and it became a staple of my morning for many decades. I canceled my subscription, however, because my paper had not arrived in nearly 4 months. I called, emailed, even once having my daughter go to the publisher to advocate delivery for my paper. After months and dozens of trys, we did not receive a single message or call from customer service. Now, I receive calls at least twice a week insisting "I just try it, just come back", another subscription, though I hadn't received my papers in months. I'm a 77 year old woman, I don't want to be pestered by a company who couldn't even bother to deliver my paper after all my decades of service. Disappointing, and a total scam...

They billed me twice in one year, for 5x more than my previous three annual bills (normal billing month it doubled, 8 months later was 3x higher). I attempted to call, the automated line couldn't comprehend "human", "representative", "person" so I hung up and emailed. The first email response didn't answer my question but stated how "wonderful it is to be a subscriber and the account would remain active until they heard back from me." I replied back; repeated the question, requested refund and cancel again. Same response, "wonderful to be a subscriber and the account would remain active until they heard back from me." So, I responded again, same question (why was I billed twice in one year for a total of $51 when my previous annual payment had only been $11.) and same request. The response this time was that their rates went up, but "it's so wonderful to be a subscriber and the account would remain active until they heard back from me. You received notice the rates were going up." I reply again (same question, requests); they finally respond they would partially refund and cancel. Still no explanation of two rate increases in a year. Two days after the final email exchange, I receive a postcard in the mail saying subscriber rates were going up the following week. WHAT? I was billed almost a month ago. At that point, I was done and had already had enough of their poor customer service, so no point in responding back with that information. A week later, no refund and papers are still showing up on my walk, so I call. BS Rep: "I see you paid in March, but we reserve the right to raise subscriber prices." Me: "In the middle of the year after I've already paid." BS Rep: "yes" Me: "Do you realize how ludicrous that is? What's to stop you in three months from doing it again?" BS Rep: Me: "Okay, I know you're not the one responsible, so think about this from a consumer point of view and how you would feel. Please refund the second payment and continue sending the papers I've already paid for." BS Rep: "I see that your account has been cancelled and a refund issued. You should see it in 5 - 10 business days." Me: "Okay, thank you"
