Doulas of Baltimore

My husband and I really loved the small group training experiences we received at Doulas of Baltimore. We enrolled in and started taking the sessions at around 24 weeks but there were other couples that were much farther along than we were. We took 5 classes (4 in a series about newborn basics and 1 single class on birthing) and they were all extremely informative. The small group environment along with the supportive instructors of the sessions made the room a safe space to learn and ask questions. We also really enjoyed the other couples we learned with, and keep in touch with them. Since them, we have also enlisted the help of a nighttime doula from DOB and are looking forward to the help! Highly recommend if you're a hands-on learner and struggle to pay attention to webinars or books about baby care!

Shana was an absolute godsend! I cannot recommend her enough. I never would have made it through my unmedicated childbirth without her. Her calm presence, effective coaching, and responsive to my needs was invaluable. Moreover, her ability to work seamlessly with my husband and the hospital medical staff was critical to my birthing process and impressive to watch. She is worth EVERY PENNY!

Im a second time mom and decided to look into a doula service based on a friends recommendation. I requested a consultation through their website and was able to quickly set up a meeting with Debbie, one of the owners. She was extremely knowledgeable and helpful throughout the process and was able to answer all my questions. We setup a potential contact with one of their doulas. After speaking with my husband, we ended up not choosing to go with a doula service based on our own personal preferences. I let Debbie know and she was nothing but respectful and understanding of our decision. After my experience with her, I decided I wanted to take the Comfort Techniques session with the company to get a better sense of hands on tips for labor. It can was a good interactive experience for us and we still got the benefit of some expert doula techniques to use during labor. Even though we ended up with a totally different birth experience than planned, I felt so prepared and encouraged from my interactions with Debbie. I highly recommend the company - they certainly practice what they preach when it comes to respecting families and treating them with kindness and dignity regardless of their decisions. Thank you!

We used DOB both for Childbirth/Newborn Care class and doula services for the birth of our first baby. Shana, Debbie and the rest of the DOB team were crucial to helping us feel prepared for baby's arrival and helping me stay calm and feel empowered during a difficult labor. The virtual childbirth education class was comprehensive and covered everything we needed to know about birth and the first few newborn days. Despite the virtual setting, DOB fostered a strong community through the class, which has been a great resource and helped us build relationships with other expecting/new parents. In labor, Shana was a calming, reassuring presence for both me and my partner and helped me keep things in perspective, advocate for myself, and communicate with the nurses. She was indispensable to our family, and we're grateful to have had her and DOB's support!
