My shock wasn't fully installed. It was just dangling under the car for a few days. I brought my car in for something different- they just told me they needed to be replaced. To their credit once I realized what was going on they got it in quickly and it seems be installed now (fingers crossed) but I won't be going back there. Edit: The district manager and shop manager were very communicative and wanted to make things right. I feel like they do care about treating customers well.

I waited two weeks for VIP to do a 3-hour repair. This was my first visit to VIP and I am sad to say I would never use them again. I had my truck towed to VIP because it would not start and they said they could get to it fast. I waited 4 days for them to diagnose the problem with my truck. Bad fuel injectors. They quoted me $1,725 for the repair plus $275 for diagnosis. When I inquired about why it was so much they claimed the fuel injectors alone cost $300 each. I called another garage and they quoted me $1,300 for the same work. I looked online, and four fuel injectors cost $100. When I told this to Jim, the VIP branch manager, he said that VIP only orders the best parts so theirs were more expensive, but he could get the price down, which was nice, I thought. I agreed to go forward with the repair. When I called to check on the truck a few days later, they claimed the parts they ordered from the dealership came in cracked and they had to reorder them. I waited, and waited. On day eight, I asked them for a loaner car or a rental car, as I really needed a vehicle. They said no, that the cracked parts were not their fault and therefore they could offer me nothing. On day eleven I called Jim and he said they were still waiting for parts, which I found strange since they are a 7-day a week garage AND an auto parts store. I also live in a city where the dealership is 15 minutes from VIP. I asked to speak to someone above Jim, and he said he would have the district manager call me. That never happened. Jim called back and offered me a rental car. Again, I asked to speak to the district manager, but Jim said he was "unavailable" but that he had just talked to him to get permission for the rental car. Seriously!? I told Jim I just wanted my truck back, and that by offering me the car he was signaling that the truck would not be ready any time soon. I told him I didn't need a rental car, I needed my truck. Later that day he called back to say he was unable to find any rental companies that had trucks but assured me that my truck would be done by the next day. The next day came and went and the truck was not fixed. On day 11 there were more excuses and promises it would be done by the end of the day. On day 12, I again asked for a rental truck but this time I had called ahead to the car rental place to confirm they had one and told Jim this. Jim agreed to pay for the rental. I had the rental truck for two days. Finally, two weeks after I brought my truck there, they called to say it was ready. When I arrived to pick up the truck, Jim was apologetic and offered to bring the price down to $1151, which I appreciated. I was all too happy to drive away at that point, but then my truck would not start. They had to come out and jump it in the parking lot. The knocking on the engine was horrendous. They had not even let the truck run after they did the repair to clear out the debris and to recharge the battery. The bottom line is that VIP was unable to complete a fairly straightforward repair in a reasonable amount of time. While they did offer me a discount and a rental car, it was not worth it. Update: Although VIP replied to this review to try to make it seem like they wanted to make it right, after I emailed them, they never replied. It's been over a month since emailing.

Came in for an inspection sticker, was there for around an hour and a half but it was due to them being short staffed that day and they really did a good job to accommodate the best they could (I was waiting in the waiting room). The technician who did the inspection, I believe his name was Keith, was very nice and even brought me into the garage after passing my inspection to show me some things to look out for in the future (mainly that there was a small hole in one of the CV axle boots). Overall a good experience and good customer service.

I made an appointment at the South Portland VIP and had a great experience. I was assisted by Damian Derosier and he was extremely helpful with addressing everything I needed and fixing my car in a professional, reliable, and most affordable way possible. I will definitely be going back when I need more work done on my car!
