Can't say enough great things about The Mercury. Jake and Tim are friendly, welcoming hosts, and they take great pride in this place. The rooms are comfortable and modern, and the well-stocked kitchen is a nice touch. It's in a great location, too -- so close to Deering Oaks Park.

Charming, quiet B&B that was exactly everything we needed! My husband and I stayed for 3 nights and loved our experience here. Its located in a quiet, residential neighborhood, but is very close to downtown/restaurants/coffee shops. The owners are extremely communicative and easy to reach. When we arrived, our room was already ready for us and we got to start exploring Portland immediately. The room itself was a nice size for two people, very clean and we really enjoyed the television in the bedroom. It was great to come back after a long day of walking and watch a movie in bed. The shared kitchen and reading nook added to the charm of the old building. Overall, it was a wonderful stay and we would recommend to anyone who wants an easy, relaxed B&B experience.

While I was treated well regarding food recommendations I feel the owners of this obviously well conceived initially inn have outgrown how they present their "welcoming self sustainable inn." Even with having a nice conversation with one owner based essentially on some common ground of backgrounds I found the rooms nice but essentially a very cold experience at Mercury Inn. I enjoyed my time in Portland and the owners were helpful with eating opportunities. However the "continental breakfast" at least presented on their current website is totally misleading and they should update this! I found a basically cold non involved offering even with breakfast and had to ask for a banana since no fruit was offered. The owners are very nice but are not doing a service to the community they are reaching out to. Their own needs have changed over times in their business and they should be more direct about this on their website. As much as I prefer to give a business like this my support they came up coldly lacking in what they presented online.

The Mercury is a modern bed and breakfast that appeals to anyone who values convenience, comfort, and an easy getaway. It combines the ease of access and independence you expect from an Airbnb mixed with the accommodations of a bed and breakfast. The rooms are professionally designed and very clean - you get a spacious and comfortable living room, bedroom, and bathroom. The kitchen serves two suites for one floor and offers the necessities for storing food, preparing a quick meal, or enjoying the delicious light breakfast fare offered by the innkeepers. I really appreciate that the breakfasts arent enormous and unnecessarily wasteful, proving the inns sustainability pledge. If you need anything, the innkeepers are a quick text message away. The location is blocks from the center of Portland - so easy to get around and explore, plus off-street parking is available in the middle of the city! Hard to beat the convenience for this price. This is not a stuffy, old bed and breakfast from yesteryear - if thats what youre looking for, go somewhere else. Importantly, this is an LGBTQ+ run business that helps improve the city of Portland for the better, exactly the sort of business fellow queers and allies should support during times like these. Show your solidarity and book your stay now!

Highly recommend. My husband and I stayed here for one night but wished we could stay for more. Owners are kind, hospitable, and very easy to communicate with. They gave us excellent food recs for portland that were all delicious. The inn itself is a cute converted Victorian home that was very comfortable (make sure youre ok with the usual charms of an older building though: narrow stairway, creaky wood floors, slightly audible plumbing system, sloped ceilings). However, its been renovated and decorated in a cozy, cool, contemporary style that we thought was very well done and enjoyable. The inn itself seemed very personal and intimate. Close by to excellent restaurants (though unfortunately it rained a lot while we were there). Breakfast provided was simple but amazing. There was a Greek yogurt with Maine maple syrup that we couldnt get enough of and they had a crockpot of oatmeal ready for us that was honestly the best oatmeal weve ever had. Overall- cozy, cute, small inn that seems to be run very well by people that obviously care very much about it. We came in the off season so cant comment on whether or not you need to get the room with the parking space or if street parking is adequate (seems like it would be though?)
