My wife and I travel with a Slingshot group every year and make long trips. This year we were making a trip and reserved a room here for July 6th to July 7th. Today is March 28, 2024 several months before our trip. My mother was transported by ambulance to a local hospital and is not doing good so my wife and I have decided that we have to cancel our up coming trip in July. Don't want to be out of State if things get worse for my mother. I called and explained the situation to the desk attended and was told by her I will cancel your room but your not getting your money back. Then hung up on me. Absolutely un professional and I (we) will never step foot on one of these properties.

TLDR: nice location, clean rooms, good area to potty dogs but bring back the bears! Convenient location, and the staff were all so sweet and friendly. The breakfast was a small but decent selection (waffles, yogurt, fruit, bagels, a couple cereal and microwave breakfast sandwiches) but they only offered tea, coffee, and orange so I would recommend bringing water with you! Our room was clean and the free wifi was decent, the shower water was the hottest of any hotel I've stayed at recently with really good pressure! The parking lot was cleared very well of snow and there were plenty of places to walk the dogs and we felt safe doing so with all the lights.they even offered contactless housekeeping! However, I was a little disappointed. I used to love this hotel for it's cute bear theme (quilts, little plushies, artwork etc) and there were none. We thought maybe it was just our pet friendly room but the very sweet lady at the front desk informed us that the new owners were getting away from the bears. That really saddened me as I thought that was what gave it such a nice vibe and why we chose to stay here. We enjoyed our stay but I'm not sure we'll be back when there's no real draw to this hotel over a best western or holiday inn. Nearby activities: An hour to an hour and a half to Acadia, local Orono bog walk, tons of shops in downtown Orono, Old Town, and Bangor, a half hour to Stephen King's house Safety: Good area, all outside areas had lights, deadbolts on room doors Walkability: You can walk on the street outside but it's near a highway so walking to many stores isn't possible. But a ten minute drive gets you to walkable downtown Noteworthy details: Much less kitchy bear theme than I've seen here previously or in pics so if you're looking for that look elsewhere Dog friendly

It's a fine place to sleep, conveniently located off the highway. Basic accommodation.

Chad, Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Unfortunately the reservation you booked is a prepaid reservation that has a non-refundable stipulation that is agreed too at the time of booking. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you and wish you and your family all the best.

Hi Lucien, Thank you for your review. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us! We have transitioned the plush bears out of the rooms- they can’t be washed without getting ruined and therefore are not able to be cleaned between guests. We do still have our Bear’s Den junior suite that has more of the Bear decor.Thank you,
