This happened a while ago but I just remembered it and now Im angry again. Drove an hour to get there to get looked at for a potential cancerous mole and got stuck in construction along the way however I was still early to the appointment. They had me fill out the prescreening stuff and didnt think to tell me until I had finished it that they cancelled my appointment because it took too long. I wish I could get a refund on my gas money

The doctor called me and asked me to reconsider my review . Ive thought about it for a bit now and I have decided to adjust it. Originally I went to see the doctor, he gave me a prescription that healed my hands . I had perfectly clear skin after about 2 years of using the prescription he had prescribed for me . So great success for him on my diagnosis and prescription, A+ work. Im very happy with the original outcome. So after 3 years I finally ran out of the medication that was prescribed to me. The medication that had taken 2 years to finally heal my hands for the first time in my adult life . I called and asked to have my prescription refilled . They denied me the medication. I was told Ill need a new appointment to check in and have the doctor look it over again, see whats changed . I agree to the appointment even though I tell them nothing has changed for me aside from having completely healed skin. They give me my appointment, they tell me its 2 months away. Ok I agree, I ask can I please have enough medication just to hold me over until the appointment? They denied me again. I mention Im about to go on a once in a lifetime vacation and would really like to have my hands be healed for it . Nope, Im denied the medication . That was when I decided to make a review, as I was not pleased with the level of care I was offered. The doctor calls me after I post my original review, I talk to him respectfully, he is also respectful to me . He ask me to reconsider my review. Im a reasonable guy so I have reconsidered it. Well Im sitting here with cracked, bloody, amd raw skin on my hands . Im sitting here thinking about how I had to miss out on activities I had planned for my vacation for over a year because of the degraded condition of my skin, Im sitting here still waiting for my appointment, my hands have gotten to a point they are worse than when I originally went to see the doctor. Its a really strange way to care for your patients if you ask me. Just let the patients condition spiral out of control waiting for an appointment. I cant seem to understand why they couldnt prescribe me just enough of the medication to hold me over until the appointment? When the appointment comes if the doctor says its not right for me then adjust it at that point, not after the condition gets so bad its worse than ever. I had intended to keep the appointment but now, sitting here writing this revised review I have come to the realization that this is not a practice that cares for the patient. Its a very warped way of helping people, fix them, take great care to find a cure or a way to maintain a healthy lifestyle but then knowingly cause them harm by letting them go untreated for months on end . Ive never heard of such a thing. Needless to say, I wont be going back .

My name is William Birely. My history of sun damage includes 30 years of recreational sailing on the Chesapeake Bay. Shortly after Acadia Dermatology opened their office in Ellsworth, ME, I was diagnosed with melanoma and referred by my primary care physician to Dr. Nopastak. He was able to see me within a few days, and remove the cancer. He did a wonderful job, and the surgery left a slight scare that is hardly noticeable. Since then, I have kept regular appointments to stay on top of my skin care needs. He is always professional and remarkably intelligent. He knows his craft. His staff is pleasant and kind. My wife, Becky, is also a patient of his and would agree with me regarding this review.
