It was ok. I would not recommend taking any one there. Some of the nurses were very rude to me. Through my shoe under my bed and 5old me to get it with a broken ankle. Then hoop up stairs backwards.

Do not, do not, do not place a loved one here. Admitted a dear friend there who was doing VERY WELL post stroke at New England Rehab. He was basically in bed three days before any rehab started. I had to ask them to get him up for meals and the rest of the time he was left isolated in his room except for the sessions with OT, PT, ST who were all wonderful. My friend was not eating and was complaining of discomfort in his intestinal area. I was told it must be that his " brief" was pinching him. As soon as I had the call of offer of a bed at the veterans home he got transferred, however, my friend was in such serious condition upon arrival he got transferred again to Maine Medical with severely elevated WBC, sodium, potassium and other labs and also diagnosed with a c-diff infection which is serious. The nursing care is pretty much absent at St. Andre's and charge nurses never reached out to me with any assessments and seemed to spend the vast majority of their time at a computer in their office. Briefly met the absent nurse manager after more than a week. I'm not sure she ever even laId eyes on my friend. I asked about the " standard of care" due to my friend having a gross looking mouth, no fluids ever on his tray, unshaven, etc. I was told the standard of care "depends on which CNA". I asked for and was told a Thrive nutritional supplement would be on every meal tray, but it was consistently not. When I would then request one at meal time the response was typically that they were " out of them" and would need to call the kitchen, often meaning a 20 minute wait. I asked one aide if she would assist him with his evening meal and the response was " I have 20 patients". My friend weighed 142-144 at new England Rehab. When I asked for his weight at St. Andre's I was told " we have no way to get a weight." He arrived at The Veteran's Home at a weight of 122. ( he was at St. Andre's 2 weeks) CNA's were charting that he was eating 25 to 50% of his meals and drinking his fluids. This is GROSSLY inaccurate. I could go on and on. Thankful for the quick and accurate assessment and care he received at his quick transiton to Maine Veteran's home. Currently is serious condition at MMC resulting from the neglect and lack of adequate care at St. Andre's. A week after he was there ( a kind man with a sharp mind still, and significant aphasia) told me " I only trust one person in this area." This place needs to take responsibility for their neglect. SHAMEFULL!!Now in hospice taking his last breaths.
