My son had an emergency and he was treated like royalty because he was a child. They have their own little waiting room. The pediatric is amazing and Im very happy we went to Bangor.

I have gone to Northern Light several times over the years. The infectious disease ctr, the cardiovascular ctr, and the Women's Breast and Osteoporosis ctr are the only places in the building that are helpful or worth going to. (I am talking about the main hospital on State St.) Northern Light's emergency department is awful. The walk-in care at the healthcare mall on Union St is horrendous! I will NEVER go there again. If you (nurses and drs) are going to discuss patients and stereotype all people on a certain medication, then don't do it rt outside your patient's room! The way they treat human beings in need of care, whether it be a virus, a broken bone, or someone experiencing a mental health crisis, is unacceptable. No compassion or empathy! They don't treat people with dignity or respect, and the floors and IV poles are disgusting! I have spoken to 3 former ER nurses who quit over the last few years because of several different unpleasant factors, making it a nightmare job. They're thankfully much happier working at different facilities. So... avoid if at all possible! St. Joe's ER is much better in my own opinion.

ZERO STARS NEVER GO HERE!! Seriously pathetic for an American Hospital, seems like third world treatment. My friend almost died here yesterday he waited 3 hours to get a scan for serious brain trauma and had a seizure while waiting for results. After this they told him there werent any rooms and made him wait in the hall for 5 hours.

If you want to get better this is not the place to go. Not for anything. No doctors want to work there. Most nurses are traveling and leave as soon as they can. The federal govt won't even help this place out because they do not make people better on a scale where they should get any help. It's all a money game with this place. How much money can we get before we say we give up. When the patients are not giving up. They just say there's nothing we can do. But then other hospitals save some of those people's lives that leave here. Don't put your life in their hands. The few good nurses and doctors that are there are not enough. It's not about helping people for most of them. It's about a paycheck. So many rude nurses who are put out to have to do their job. None of the staff is on the same page. Not to mention this companies COOS have gone and bought up every single private medical business in the area that they possibly could, and have totally messed up the entire medical field in this area. All for a few guys in suits to keep their billion dollar bank account rolling upward. It's not about compassionate care here. It is about money. Corporate greed. When a business man can tell a doctor what to do for their patients something is wrong with the system. And sadly it's the case in much of America now. The system has failed. And this hospital fails epically. More than not. For your sake find a different place. It's worth the ride.
