This place is a dump at best. When we arrived, we were not even sure the place was opened. It looked like an abandoned building. There were no cars or people in sight. They do not have a front desk office, lobby, or anything indoors. After several attempts to contact someone by ringing a bell on the outside, a woman raised a small window and seemed confused we were there. We asked if we were the only ones there, and she said they had people in the back. We paid for a room and were given the first room beside the window. After looking at the room that was hot, muggy, and had a bad smell , we did not feel safe or comfortable with this setup. We left and decided to look for another place to stay. They had advertised being 6.6 miles from Milam, Tx, but were over 35 miles away. We called to explain the situation to the owner and ask for a refund since we were not going to stay there. We were told no and spoken to very rudely and very unprofessional. They called the next day after we had stayed overnight in Lufkin at the Comfort Inn and threatened to press charges and send a sheriff after us for the room key we had left in the room. These people are a joke and wasted our weekend and kept our money.

We were on a spontaneous road trip and needed a place to stop for the night. It is a wonderful place to stay! The rooms are very clean and have a fridge (with freezer), microwave, and coffee pot. The room had just been renovated, so the bathroom was completely new. It's very near the water, and just beautiful. We will be back again!

I'd known the original owner all my life and have many wonderful memories there. I've not visited the new Driftwood yet, but I will in the very near future. From everything I'm seeing you guys have done an outstanding job. Thank you so much for breathing new life into a place which holds a special place in my heart.
