It is very clear that management thinks they can deal unprofessionally, and probably illegally, with renting because tenants are students. 37 days to get my deposit back, but only because I was persistent about contacting their office. Several people reached out to me after hearing about my experience stating they NEVER received their deposits back after moving out. Edit: Lived at Steeples Glen; See LA Rev. Stat. 9:3251; also the contractual lease I signed gave the landlord a 30 day obligation to return deposit.

It was a horrible experience. My daughter turned in her key to one of the properties they own and manage on 10/31 and was told she would get her $368.75 deposit back in the mail. We gave it a few months, thinking it would take time. We called four times in January and were told it usually only takes 30 to 45 business days. Management said it was a new bank systems issue, and the owner had to wait on the bank because 30 checks had been sent back. According to management, the bank made a mistake. In the course of this, we've learned from other college students who had rented from them that they NEVER got their deposits back. The lady named Linda finally called me on January 23rd and said the owner wanted to verify our new mailing address because he was putting the check in the mail. Well, we are now February 27th, and STILL NO CHECK!! Should it take 118 days to get your deposit back? Do not rent from them. They should not call it a deposit if they never intend to return it to you. They are taking advantage of college students. $368 may not seem like much, but if you are a broke college student, it makes a huge difference. We are filing a report with the Better Business Bu.
