Cornet

This a long post but addresses attempted theft and fraud. I can be forgiving about a great number of issues when dining, but I draw the line when it comes to price transparency and honesty. We had not been to Cornet in a few years and I had reviewed the negative comments about the 15 percent gratuity added to your check automatically. I carefully looked through the menu for any reference to the mandatory 15 percent. It was not noted anywhere. That was fine up to a point. I generally tip in the 15 to 20 percent range so their 15 percent was acceptable. Here is the rub. I paid cash and would have received $18.00 back after food drinks and tips were totaled. The waitress, who was pleasant and proficient, tried to pull a fast one and steal $10.00 of my change. She placed a 10 under the receipt and placed the additional 8 and change on top of the receipt. She covered the 10 dollar bill completely with the receipt and had I not pulled the receipt for a final review I may have missed the 10 underneath it. The deceitful 15 percent gratuity coupled with the attempted theft of an additional 10 dollars has resulted in my black listing the restaurant. We will never return, good food or not.

Was walking down Bourbon Street, and the man downstairs was extremely welcoming and only had good things to say about the Cornet. At outside on the balcony, food was decent. The server was super sweet but was a little inattentive and didn't even bring silverware to the table. If you're looking for a quick, easy place to grab a bite this would be the spot.

Stopped for a quick bite. Had the Jambalaya and some cocktails . Bartender was awesome. Great service. Highly recommend!!!
