      Thank you, Ira. Yes, the delays in the Social Security Disability process are bad and have been getting worse. There are certainly things my office and I can do to avoid some of the most common reasons for extra delays. But there are periods in this process when you are queued up to be assigned to a Claims Examiner or are waiting to have your hearing scheduled. There is not really anything my office or any other attorney can do to speed up those delays. Although during those times we try and continue to collect medical records and other evidence, so when someone does finally look at everything, the relevant information and documentation is all submitted waiting for them. To that ends, my office and I are familiar with those delays, when they occur, how long they generally take, and what can be done to make sure they do not take even longer. We try and communicate that information to our clients, so our clients have (you said it) "realistic expectations on timelines". I wish I could tell our clients it is a fast process and we can make it faster. But the truth is it is generally a long process and we can only make sure it is not needlessly longer.
