TownePlace Suites by Marriott New Orleans Downtown/Canal Street

Typical TownePlace Suites. Great units. Have stayed multiple times as close to Amtrak station/downtown area. Staff can be a bit robotic. Not being rude, but can be a bit annoying.

Everything was perfect. The location is great, right in front of the streetcar. The doorman was an absolute delight, he treated us by name and gave great recommendations for food. The rooms were clean and spacious. We make a lot of trips to New Orleans and have now found our forever place to stay.

The hotel is okay. The couch had rips in it. The paper towel holder was broken. We had no face towels and when the front desk was called, Michael told us we had to go get our own towels even after being told they were not in the room upon arrival. My booking consisted of 2 rooms. I called earlier to check to see if the hotel could accommodate early check in, I was told yes. When we arrived, only one room was allowed to check in. The view was great from the rooftop but not so great from the room window, we had a view of a condemned building, at least thats what it looks like. Our reservations stated King with sofa bed. One room was accommodated with one & the other one was not. That definitely caused problems with sleeping arrangements. We were told by the receptionist that there was nothing they could do. The staff really seemed unconcerned to care for our needs. Would I book again, no. Would I recommend someone to book? No. Book somewhere else. I think a lot of people have gotten lost in the aesthetic & the location. Im sure there are nicer hotels in the area.
