Rooms: Zimmer sind gro. Alles brauchbar.

Terrible rooms. It's that strong sewer smell that knocks me over when I come back to my room after long day at the convention center. Every single day...choking sewer smell. My colleague changed rooms since his furniture was broken dirty and stained...like from the curb of free furniture. Other folks on the shuttle bus kept talking about their rooms so bad but afraid to change in case they are worse. I asked for an iron board 3 times until i went to the front desk and waited for one. Staff kindly explained they had to find and take one from another room because they break. Guess iron boards are just too expensive for the Double Tree. One last thought, I was asking the ACS why and how hotels are picked for the block rate for a large convention. They didn't know. I want to apologize to our foreign visitors that traveled from all over the World for the poor state our hotels and condition of New Orleans. Money not patriotism or pride of ownership, and of course no oversight of the industry.

The best part of this hotel is the location. It is directly across the street from the casino and only a short walk to the French Quarter. Those are huge pluses! The room has some age to it, as other reviewers have noted, but that wasnt an issue for us. It was clean and comfortable. The primary issue we had was hallway noise. There was a group of teenagers starting on our floor. They were regularly opening and closing (slamming) doors and talking loudly. They were generally quiet at night but the sounds made it impossible to rest peacefully during the day. Not the biggest deal, but enough to knock the rating down one star.
