I went into Cottmans for a transmission removal and replace on a Volkswagen Jetta. When I picked up my car and brought it home after repairs the same day I backed in my home driveway and my car had a big thud/shift where it felt as my engine was going to come out of my vehicle. When I put my car in drive it had the same big thud/shift. I had to figure out what was the problem, because it was after hours and they were closed at this time. Upon inspecting my vehicle they did not connect my transmission bracket to my car. This was very horrible because my engine could have come out of my car while driving because it was not secured. This incident also caused all my dash lights to come on. I went back the next day and they did put the bracket in place, however I still had dash lights on my car that wasnt there before. I went and ran a diagnostic check to see what damages this incident has cause. I found out my exhaust is damaged and is now leaking that was not there before I brought my car to Cottmans and now they have cost me another major car repair because of their negligence, of not properly securing the bracket after the trans replacement and if I dont fix this my car could catch fire while Im driving and put me and my family in danger. I will not be going back for repairs at this location.This is not what I expected from this company after I spent near to $2000.00. The rep did apologize but an apology will not fix my car!!!! Also they kept my engine cover and did not put it back on my Volkswagen Jetta's, just sloppy unprofessional work. I may seek legal help

The team at Cottman Transmission & Total Auto Care, at 7801 Earhart Blvd., is incredible. Im a single mother on a limited budget and was looking to find a safe, used car. They performed a comprehensive check on two separate vehicles for me at no charge. Todd and Jason were personable, friendly, honest, and open in sharing their knowledge & expertise. They made me feel welcome and their information helped reassure me I was not buying a lemon. For the car I did buy, they provided me with a complete repair list with pricing, prioritized by urgency, so I could schedule needed repairs in affordable increments. Needless to say, I wont be going anywhere else for servicing my car. They made me feel like family.

Rebuilt my transmission for $4k in July 2022. Had to bring back in 3 times (twice for their admitted mistakes). Drove it under 2k miles over 13 months - transmission goes again. Sorry buddy warranty is only for 12 months. Shoddy parts/work and customer service is lazy. Wouldnt be surprised if they do you better at the Metarie location but I wouldnt recommend.
Just as a follow-up: the owner reached out to understand more. I emailed him and never heard back. Good luck, all.

Brought my car in thinking I needed a new transmission. These guys figured out it was just a sensor. They had already ordered the new transmission but when they went to pull it out they noticed it wasn't cracked and did not need to be replaced. They could have easily just changed it anyway. Instead they called me and told me my car was ready and that I would be saving $4000! Great guys, great communication, and excellent service. I will recommend Cottman to all my family and friends. Thank you guys!
