image I would not recommend putting your family member in this place (and yes I did have a family member here for a while). Granted, there are not many choices in Natchitoches area, but please consider options in Shreveport-Bossier, or Alexandria first. It seems as though the food/nourishment is fairly good, but care, organization and leadership could raise questions for sure. The nurse assistants work hard, but it seems overworked at times. As for the nurses (at least on days), they come across as as sloppy, sluggish and unmovitated at times. And the physicians? Perhaps they are acknowledgeable, but not very good team players with the other folks working there. As for the older cajun/south Louisiana doctor, keep your big loud mouth shut and your bombastic attitude and arrogance down in the swamps in the south La. And the older gray headed head nurse, why do you need so much help from others in performing basic icu skills?

image It's difficult to give anything 5 stars; I would add half a star if I could though. My husband has been a patient there 3 times. First time in 2018 after a total hip at NRMC for a fracture due to a fall. He got excellent care there. The 2nd time in 2020 after another fall and another broken hip. Care was awesome. This last time was after a medical event. He progressed rapidly until he contracted Covid. He was very sick, but he beat that. Thanks to excellent care again and his toughness. He did, however, lose all the progress he had made. His Medicare time was up, so he had to be discharged, but that is not the fault of LAECH. I read the 2 one-star comments and I can't fathom anyone there "letting her sit for two days after having an obvious stroke." LAECH cannot obtain a second CT by family request; a physician must order it and if the physician did NOT, then some explanation from her/him is in order. The statement that "They tried their best to straight up kill my mother," is inflammatory and insulting. No healthcare professional there are anything but compassionate and caring. The 2nd 1 star rating is heart wrenching. The statement that "they don't understand what's happening," hits home because my husband didn't understand what was happening either. But, they had just given him pain medication when I came in and he didn't remember that. They had just turned him when I came in but he didn't remember that. He would cry out for me when I wasn't there because he didn't understand that I couldn't be there 24/7. Is there always room for improvement? Of course. But, LAECH does NOT deserve 1 star ratings. When you read those any less than 3 stars, be sure to remember that sometimes expectations exceed reality. And you have recourse if you are not happy with an aspect of your or a loved one's care. Give the staff and/or the facility to mediate or remedy a problem. Communicate with the social worker or case manager openly and honestly, without hostility. No one reacts positively to hostility and/or accusations of not caring. Don't assume that Google knows more or better than medical professionals. Just a few handy hints for a better experience. image I definitely dont recommend you putting your loved ones here at all!!! I had a family member here and she seemed to decline instead of getting better while here! I had to constantly ask her aides to get her out of bed! Otherwise thats where she wouldve been! Staff here do not like you to report or complain about anything they immediately start having attitudes and that goes for higher up also! So if you have a complaint save it until your love one is out of there! I did complain about my love one treatment here and I feel it was only a joke to them!
