Within 3 months, my child was been sent home 5 times due to head lice. Each instance involved several days missed of work/daycare, as I learned it became necessary to provide clearance from a doctor to return. Even more concerning, is that the daycare claimed that my daughter was the ONLY child affected and therefore, the cause. Despite their claims, I was never able to find anything in her hair aside from the 1st instance. Nevertheless, each time I followed all recommended protocols in cleansing and treating our home, cars, etc., several times. I even brought my daughter to a dermatologist for prescription treatment/prevention, and had Orkin conduct additional treatment in our home. For the 4th instance, she was sent home for supposed lice/nits on Thursday. I kept her home Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and did NOT treat her hair, as I saw no lice/nits in her hair yet again. Monday morning, she was cleared by a physician. He informed me that not only is her hair clear, but there was no way she had lice to the extent the school claimed over the last 3 months since there was no evidence of bites, scratches, nits, or lice. When I informed the daycare of this information, they were adamant that my daughter was the ONLY child with a lice problem and even accused me as being the source of the "super lice" I must have in my home! Each day from that point on her hair was tightly braided into a ballerina bun with lots of hairspray, as we were told this would help. A few weeks later, we started a new daycare the day after the 5th instance. I feel as though I am an accommodating and reasonable parent. I put forth my best effort to work with the daycare in remediating the situation, but to no avail. This situation was not only unnecessary, but extremely frustrating, humiliating, and expensive. Since leaving G&G, there have been no signs of any problems regarding my child's hair.
