I used Dr. Planchard for a short time before I needed cataract surgery. Pre surgery my nearsighted vision was pretty good without glasses, distance was not good. I've always had astigmatism and I have dry eyes. Before surgery he told me I did not need the toric lens that correct astigmatism as it was not bad enough. I had the surgery and the right eye surgery went fine no problem, left eye really hurt right after I got home from surgery. Next day post op checkup he told me he thought I had a scratch on my eye it would be better in a couple of days. It got worse. Went back when my eyelid didn't want to open in the mornings. He told me levator muscle that opens my eye had come loose and I need to see a specialist. (Didn't have a scratch after all.) I go to specialist, I have to have another surgery to repair that on both eyes. Now my dry eyes were off the chart it was so bad and very painful for 3 days. After 4 months I'm still dealing with severe dry eyes. My vision is terrible. I go back to Planchard because I want him to know what I've been through. I believe the levator muscle got damaged during the cataract surgery. He tells me my astigmatism "has reared its ugly head". (Quote) Now between not having the correct lens implanted and the dry eyes, my vision is worse than before I had cataract surgery. He told me it could be fixed with Lasix and it's $1500.00. I regret ever having the cataract surgery. I'm so disappointed! Now my vision is worse and between cataract and levator repair the dry eye disease is really bad. Dr. Planchard really doesn't listen to me when I go in, always have to wait a very long time (I can deal with that) I do not recommend him for any surgery. I've since learned of 2 other people who have had problems with surgery with him. So sorry to have to be so negative. Choose your doctor carefully.

Worst office I have ever been to. Front desk set my appointment for 8:30(they open at 8:30), did not unlock the doors until 8:20, finally got me back at 9:20, and I waited in a room until 10 never to be seen. They dang sure took my $55 co pay, hopefully they will use it to hire a professional to run there staff and scheduling. I will say they asked if I would like to reschedule however I kindly declined seeing that they already wasted my time and took my money for zero service.

Dr. Planchard is/was very kind and thorough. He is also a pet lover which I enjoyed chatting with him about as we went through the examinations. At his office you will experience that of the big city doctor with a small country doctor feel and vibe. I would highly reccommend him for all your vision needs. His staff are equally as bright and helpful.

Dr. Planchard has never once taken the time to listen to me when I go in, he has answered his phone to yell at some poor customer service person about a TV he was ordering, when I try to bring up any issues he brushes them off and goes on with whatever he was rambling about. This most recent visit he basically pushed me into getting a prescription for glasses when he knows I'll see double with them saying my eyes will just get over it with time. The lady who was doing my eye exam didn't tell me what she was doing when she went to dilate me. Was not going to ask my permission or anything until I stopped her from actually applying the drops. Also this time, the doctor went on a rant about covid and how China is to blame and President Tromp should be back in office. I'm very much ok with people having their own thoughts on politics but it has no plans in a doctor's office. He didn't require me or anybody else to wear a mask during the exam.

Dr. Planchard is very nice, personable, and reportedly a skilled surgeon. He seems to know what he is doing, but when I had a stye on my eyelid he did not tell me to use warm compresses with massage or encouraged me to try conservative means of treatment first, instead he wrote me a prescription and told me that if that didn't work we'd have to do surgery. Later, after I asked, he told me warm, moist compresses with massage might help. They did and I never had to have the surgery, saving me money, time, and pain. I saw him four to five times and each time he was 30 to 60 minutes late. The last time I saw him I deliberately schedule the first appointment of the day, expecting that he would finally be on time, but he was 45 minutes late, causing me to be late to my next critical appointment. I asked his staff why he was always late and they said he deliberately doesn't come in until 45 minutes after the first appointment has been scheduled! That was the last straw. I left him because he doesn't respect his patients time.
