I am a do-it-yourselfer but I know when to get a licensed expert to do the right job. I do not believe in letting such professionals do basic labor work at their hourly prices when I can do that part myself. I don't put a top electrician on the wrong end of a shovel. I had my home electrical pannel upgraded and an external power station installed for a hot tub. I did the digging to Ronnie's specifications. I let the professional handle the rest from permitting through completion and inspection. You can get top dollar work at a reasonable price if you are willing to do some of the swet work yourself. He also provided some free advice when I had the swimming pool installed and the pool contractor had the electrical conduit less than six inches under ground. The pool contractor said that is the way they always do it. I didn't like that statement. He advised I contact the permit inspector (which I did) and had the contractors run the power a minimum of 18 inches deep.Good call.

When you agree to a scope of work with someone, you should honor it. And if you can't honor it, you should let your customer/client know things have changed, especially when asked. I was quoted a very fair price, and he proceeded to do all the work. I asked twice throughout the process where we were on cost, and each time he gave me zero indication that the price changed. A week after the work was done, he sent me an invoice that was 50% HIGHER THAN THE VERBAL QUOTE. He also threatened to bring me to court. And got real mad about my questioning the invoice. I'm a family man on a shoestring budget, but he "didn't give a s@#$" Shame on me for trusting him and not getting the quote in writing from him before he started. In my experience, Ronnie's a man of his invoice, and not his word.
