Dr. turley is absolutely amazing !!! I had a very rough birth and she was calling in the middle of the night and checking on me the whole time. Even before she went home that night she came by and checked on me. She came in the next morning and i just knew i was in great hands. I couldnt have asked for a better doctor !!! She checked on me every afternoon after that. I will definitely continue to keep seeing her and if I ever do have another baby, she will be my ob!!

I had never met Dr. Turley before my daughter went into labor. I had heard great things about her. My daughter had thought her water was leaking for several days. Every time she went to the hospital, they would say "no" and send her home. Finally, on the 23rd, a lot of fluid came out, and she went back to the hospital. The nurse could not confirm that her water was broken, but because her contractions were stronger, and she was 3.5 cm dilated, they admitted her. She was in labor for about eight hours with slow but steady progress. She was 4-5 cm when Dr. Turley decided to do a c-section. She told my daughter it was not an emergency and even told the charge nurse that the baby nurse could choose whether to have the pediatrician present during surgery. But once my daughter said that she wanted to wait an hour or so, Dr. Turley scared her to get her to agree, telling her that she could not guarantee the health of her baby and that my daughter would have to sign AMA papers that the hospital was not responsible for what happened to the baby. She got very defensive with me when I questioned her. She claimed the baby was not tolerating labor and was having decels, but not one medical intervention was ever attempted. The decels were small and with contractions. Then Dr. Cates further scared her by telling her that the baby might be septic; he put in an umbilical IV (which is a big deal for a hospital without a NICU) and kept her away from her mommy and daddy and immediate family in the nursery to get antibiotics. All of the baby's labs were normal, so they did all of that for suspicion of infection without any evidence to back it up. I genuinely believe all of it was a scam to cover Dr. Turley's butt because she knew she was lying and had no reason to perform a C-section. What hospital takes a new baby away from a first-time mom and doesn't make any effort to keep them together? MCCH, that's who. The first few hours after birth are crucial to both mom and baby. Dr. Cates did not even have the courtesy to talk to my daughter and son-in-law in person; he called her on the nurse's cell phone!!! I love MCCH as a whole, but their L&D unit is awful. It was horrible in 1992 and 1995 when I had two of my boys there, and it's worse today. Dr. Turley should be ashamed for scaring my daughter like she did. FAILURE TO WAIT is not a reason for a c-section, regardless of whether it is on Christmas Eve or not. First-time moms can labor for quite some time. She should have given her a chance to have a natural birth.

Dr. Turley cared for me during my miscarriages, and then later delivered two beautiful babies for me. She has been a part of our family story from the deepest low to the highest highs. So thankful for her!

Very traumatic & upsetting birth experience. Her desire to make it a quick labor so she could get home in a timely manner put mother & babys wellbeing at risk & spoiled our memory of both childbirth and MCCH. Was great until it mattered the most, when she was obviously in a rush. Complete lack of communication, we had to go out of our way & ask nurses and doctors how our baby was doing, as she was taken away from us for 36 hours after her birth, and given unauthorized & nonconsensual procedures that have no business being done outside of a proper NICU. Very disappointing experience, we expected better as shed been so great up until then.
