Dr Tisdale was amazing she saved my dog. I had went and called every clinic in Louisville she was the only Dr that would help my Chapo. They took good care of my baby. They kept me updated on every thing that was going on. Her staff was so helpful and very caring. I definitely recommend Tisdale. I have been telling all my friends and family that if they ever need an Animal Hospital go to Tisdale. I will forever be so grateful for Dr Tisdale and her staff. And Chapo just loved the staff. They saved his life. Best Animal Hospital in Louisville.

Our fur baby was experiencing rather worrisome symptoms after a move. We gave this animal hospital a call by chance since we are new to the area and they are the closest to us, and I am very grateful that they were where we went! The staff was 100% kind and understanding and quick to act! Luckily, there was nothing wrong with our kitty, just a lot of stress and other varying factors, but I know if it was really bad, the staff would have done their best to accommodate us! Thank you for all your help

I I took my dog here to Tisdale because my vet clinic stated they would potential have to send my dog out anyways if it was a service they could not do for her there. I panicked and went with one of the first options they gave me out of three, which was Tisdale Vet Hospital. It was close to my home so I went. My poor dog ended up in a kennel for over 8-9 hours with no water even though she came in with pale gums and was dehydrated (the next day they called me and I asked why she did't get an IV line placed, they stated if they needed to do surgery they didn't want here belly filled with fluid). well, let me tell you, they always run IV lines and fluids during surgery. My poor dog didn't even get an IV line placed this whole time she was there. She came home and drank water for over 4 minutes. I had to call Tisdale that day after about 5-6hrs to check up on my dog to see what was going on. I didn't get anywhere until I came to pick her up past 6pm. They stated they could not find any type of obvious obstruction in her belly or why she was not able to get up earlier in the day. they told me her ALP (liver values) was elevated at 1,234 ALP, which the normal range is 20-200, so elevated is more like SKY HIGH!!! Even with these reading my dog did not get an IV line placed to help flush her system out. I was told to bring her back tomorrow if you feel she is still not doing well and we will do an exploratory belly surgery to see whats going on with her. My Veterinarian was very upset that my dog did not get any type of ultrasound and specially an IV line once Tisdale recieved the blood work back showing how high her liver values were (they gave her a Fluid ball under her left shoulder instead of IV fluids so it would absorb over the night). After I got her home, I was advised by my primary vet to take here to MSV ASAP. My dog passed away two days later with Liver failure, and they believed she developed a Pulmonary Embolism due to her ongoing organ failure. Trust me, for what I had to pay to get this service at Tisdale($1,4500), PLEASE take your dog to a MSV or Blue Pearl and get them the help they need ASAP. A life lesson was learned the hard way on this day! Rest in Heaven Star. I was doing my best for you!!!

Jonathan, Firstly we are so sorry to hear about Star and that she ended up passing away at another hospital. We know how hard it is to say goodbye to a beloved pet and friend. Just to clarify a few things, we did not give a bowl of water as she was a potential surgical candidate for Emergency surgery. We typically refrain from giving oral food or water before surgery. This protocol protects her from dangerous aspiration during surgery. Had we given her a large amount of water and then she aspirated, she could have suffered serious and unnecessary illness from this decision. We did however keep her hydrated with subcutaneous fluids. Subcutaneous fluids were selected instead of IV fluids, as even in this post you have mentioned wanting to keep costs down. IV fluids and IV Catheter placement and monitoring are hundreds of dollars more expensive. We always try to be mindful of our client's finances when it is brought to our attention as a concern. As you mentioned, her liver values were very high, which can cause dramatic increased urge to drink water. Even though she received fluids during the day and her dehydration was corrected, she still felt the urge to drink. This is unfortunately a clinical sign associated with her illness, and not a reflection of our care. We do not currently offer ultrasound at our facility, and refer any more advanced imaging (Ultrasound, CT, MRI) to our local specialty hospital (Metropolitan). This is where you ended up taking Star, as was instructed on your discharge instructions if she needed further care before the next day. We are currently not a 24/7 facility. Ultrasound is also discussed as a recommended next step imaging option on your Radiology consult results sent home with you. Furthermore, while it is true that Star was here for the majority of the day, during this time we were providing her care, getting her samples for diagnostics, waiting on results to come in, and interpreting them, all while also caring for several other pets. Veterinary care takes time. It is unreasonable to criticize us for this, especially when you yourself waited 3 days to get Star the care that she needed. Correction that your bill was not $14,500 and this must be a typo. We did our best for Star and I am proud of the care my staff provides. We are sorry to hear of her eventual passing. -Dr. Tisdale , DVM
