This is the place to go to if you're losing your vision or have suddenly gone blind as an adult. They lost all their funding not to any fault of their own but the government just shut down all the funds for people who are blind. This makes it hard for this business to run and help others. But when it does it really does help they can help place you in a job help you figure out how to navigate as a blind person through the world with lessons on how to use a cane and typing to name a couple. You get connected with a counselor who hopefully will take the time to find out what your needs are and place you in the proper classes if they are still offering them. The counselor will also help you try to get a full-time job and get off Social Security that is their main goal. But they will help you in any Endeavor that you were trying to achieve as long as it is within reason. Check them out though totally if you need help and you're losing your vision or know someone who has or are going blind they have driving lessons for those who are still allowed to drive and some other shocking things that may be helpful to you. They gave me a free cane and a monocular so I can see addresses they taught me how to type and have given me a second lease on life. I only give this place 3 stars because it's difficult to get things accomplished when there's no funding. Again this is no fault of their own this is the government.

Worst service I ever received in my life , I wouldnt recommend this place too my worst enemy. The Charles McDowell Center staff ,caters to white consumers ;but ,do very little in helping blind and visually Impaired consumers of color .
