The Center for Plastic SurgeryCosmetic plastic surgeon Sandra Bouzaglou, MD, FACS, offers surgical and nonsurgical services at The Center for Plastic Surgery and Med Spa in Lexington, Kentucky. Dr. Bouzaglou was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and grew up in Southern California. At an early age, she decided to pursue a path in medicine. She graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles, before obtaining her medical degree from the Chicago Medical School. She completed a general surgery residency at The University of Iowa. Although Dr. Bouzaglou loved general surgery, her true passion was rooted in Plastic Surgery – helping her patients "Look Good" so they could "Feel Good." She admired the ability to make someone feel good about themselves through Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and went on to complete her Plastic Surgery residency at The University of Kentucky. As their first female plastic surgery resident, she trained and learned from many leaders in the plastic surgery field. Now even after over 30 years of living out her dream as a Plastic Surgeon, she is constantly learning new techniques and improving her skills to give her patients the latest and greatest that Plastic Surgery has to offer. In 1998, Dr. Bouzaglou opened Kentucky's first accredited outpatient center of its kind, The SurgiCenter, which is dedicated to providing a safe and private environment for patients. The SurgiCenter has successfully performed over 3,500 cases. For her first 25 years in practice, these procedures were performed under general anesthesia; however, since 2017, Dr. Bouzaglou and her team have eliminated the need for general anesthesia. They have found that with the use of oral sedation and local anesthesia, patients have a superior experience, recovering faster without the risks associated with general anesthesia. It has also opened the door to patients who would not have otherwise qualified for surgery because their anesthetic risk was too high. The Center for Plastic Surgery and Med Spa also offers a wide range of nonsurgical services, from skin care and injectables to laser treatments for hair and pigment removal, as well as C02 laser for skin resurfacing and RF microneedling. The practice continually strives to provide the latest proven and the safest techniques and procedures that the field of Plastic Surgery has to offer. Dr. Bouzaglou is board certified in both General Surgery and Plastic Surgery and has been recognized by her peers as a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). She maintains membership with the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the Aesthetic Society and is affiliated with St. Joseph's East Hospital. Dr. Bouzaglou and her husband were blessed to have raised their four children in Kentucky. With their children grown and now residing in California, Dr. Bouzaglou spends more time in California while still maintaining her practice in Kentucky. With the aid of the internet and Touch MD, The Center for Plastic Surgery has progressed to a virtual practice for consultations, although in-person consultations are available. Patients find the virtual experience more educational and much more efficient. Post-operatively, Dr. Bouzaglou's patients can communicate with her 24/7 without ever leaving their homes.
