1st time in this hospital and I already see countless maintenance issues and neglected regulatory requirements in specific areas. People inside work in 70-80 degrees temperature without air conditioning breaking a list long of mandatory regulations.

There are no words to describe how wonderful your Team is. Thank you for the care you provided for my father, and for my family and I, in the last month of his life and for the spiritual and personal growth that I have experienced through such a heartbreaking scenario. I look forward to being a volunteer and I am forever thankful.

Today is March 7, 2023 and this has been bothering me since February 5, 2012, which is the day my mom died at St. Joseph's Hospital, Harrodsburg Rd., Lex. KY. She was very old and had a DNR, to which I agreed. She was taken to the ER from a nursing home with a very high fever and kidney failure. It was clear that she was dying and I told the nurse and physician that no further intervention was wanted. So she was taken to a room on the 4th floor, and that is what haunts me to this day. The room was at the end of hall, and in the room was a single wooden chair and NOTHING else. The walls were white, the ceiling was white, there was a bright fluorescent ceiling light, no pictures on the wall, nothing but an empty white room. When I first saw it, I truly thought that the room was still under construction or had yet to be furnished and decorated. It was the most sterile, uncaring, uncompassionate, unfeeling room that could possibly be imagined. Her bed was rolled to the very center of the room, so if she could have opened her eyes, she would have stared directly into the glaring fluorescent light. No nurses or staff were in sight. And that was how my mom spent her last night -- in the most uncaring, uncompassionate, unfeeling industrialized dying room. And there I sat on a wooden chair for hours until she died. Not one person came by to check, offer a glass of water, not even the tiniest bit of compassion and sympathy. I can't say enough how much I loath, hate, and despise that room, the staff who designed it, the staff who approved it, the staff who put her in that place to die, and the staff who never once came by to check. It's been 11 years now and not a day goes by that I don't think of the hellish place where my mom was left to die.

I only gave a star cause I had to. My grandmother was in the center in September. The nursing staff are rude and inconsiderate for the family. We were first put in a room with the air not working, they gave us a small fan that push hot air around the room. When we asked for a new room you would have thought we asked for a million dollars. One of the nurses told us that my grandmother didnt need us in there and that it would be better if we left the room. Thats something that you tell a grieving family. The nurse that called my grandmothers time of death was the worst. If we knew that my grandmother would make it back to Ashland, she would have been taken there. I felt like we were lied to, for you to get another patient. Shame on you! As someone that has worked in healthcare I understand that its stressing but have some compassion!
