My experience with this provider was horrible. I saw a different provider who took my history and completed a few neuro tests like reflexes, walking, walking on heels, and walking on toes. She took my symptom log which included daily symptoms over the last three months out of the office. Five minutes later this provider returned with Dr. Everman who walked in the room and before even introducing herself, stated, you do know this is anxiety. I know someone has told you that already, right? I mean we will do a 24 hour EEG to make sure it's not seizures and check your vitamin b12 to make sure you don't have deficiencies. To which I replied, "I assure you this is not anxiety". She then interrupted me. raised her voice and said, well, well This is likely anxiety and then walked out. After leaving the office angry and in great despair I read the medical note which included nothing about the neuro exam but stated seizure-like symptoms, suspicious of panic disorder. So the loss of bladder functioning, feeling like I am being electrocuted and set on fire, numbness in my face, eye twitching, numbness in hands and feet, muscle spasticity, fatigue that is debilitating at times, difficulty with word recall, difficulty saying the word I'm trying to say and more; that has been occurring for three months straight. (This was the second big episode in 2 years), that when my dr. saw me thought I had a stroke, and would not allow me to drive myself home... is anxiety. I would certainly rather it be. At least I would know directly where to receive quality care. And just for additional context I am a mental health clinician who owns and operates a mental health practice. I have been in the helping field since 2006. I have the highest level of licensure in my field, I supervise and train other clinicians and help many folks who experience mental health. I think I might know a thing or two about diagnosing and treating mental health. I am sure I know where and how to seek care for mental health. Not to mention you always rule out medical etiology before diagnosing mental health. This provider specifically and the health care profession as a whole must stop gaslighting consumers. I am scared for myself and seeking neurological care, not judgment, mental health diagnosis, or diagnosis before you even tell me your name or run any diagnostic testing. Shame on you!
