Do not bother trying to do anything online or over the phone if this is your first time applying, the most helpful thing on is the list of "you need proof of..." if you have a job just bite the bullet and take a day off. Another thing, even though they keep telling you that "everything can be completed online"; They do not accept ANY ELECTRONIC proof of income, lease, Social Security, rent, utility payments, insurance, child support payments, Everyone in the house proof income etc, etc, You must have PAPER copies of everything- including your monthly S.S., Credit/debit cards, bank statements. Own a car ? Your house ? Make sure you have paper proof of the CURRENT value. Always have at least TWO copies of everything above....and I'm sure I missed things. Now, about the Employees...The receptionist is usually a TEMP, they know almost Zero- but anything they do know, they will try their best to help you ! The Social Workers- in all of the years I have dealt with them; They Are Good People, very Helpful and Nice; but lawd have mercy, they LOSE so much paperwork that I have come to believe that all those papers that you see flying around during a tornado/hurricane comes from the filing cabinet black holes of every Social Worker in America. That has got to be the most frustrating & embarrassing thing about the job. And lunch is 2 hours long because they have to cover each other's positions. it occurs between 10:30/11am until 2pm. Don't show up between those hours to Apply for anything or if you want to talk to a worker. The exception is showing up about 1:30 or 1:45 pm to guarantee you'll see a worker. Some of them are like the majority of working people- they have 2 jobs....so never show up at 4:30 and be a Karen because "they can't see you today". Try to get there no later than an hour before they close for day !!

The most absolutely horrible service in the history of service! You will stay on the phone for hours just to wait to speak with someone. This is ridiculous. I get it they help the whole state, so does social security but they don't take forever to get on the phone. Do better! Remember your paid by the state aka. taxpayers smh.

I have called on numerous occasions, only for them to saycan I put you on a brief hold?.then for them to not come back on the phone and start from square one and be on hold for a long time!!! Its ridiculous!!
