      Hi Carol, retail gas prices reflect the current function of supply and demand and are ultimately set by the individual retail sites, which are independently owned and operated. Many factors contribute to gas prices, which the Energy Information Administration discusses at: https://www.eia.gov/energyexplained/gasoline/price-fluctuations.php.
