Billie, I reviewed recent orders (last few days) to see when your order may have been made. I found one on Friday that had two double bacon cheese burgers, two fries, and drinks. Not certain if that was your order, but that would be the closest we have to deluxe burgers. Our burger patties are each 1/3 pound and they take awhile to cook, approximately 15 - 18 minutes to assemble pattie, cook pattie, and assemble burger. Since you haven't eaten at our restaurant before, I'm surprised that you did not request the burger to be cooked either medium rare or medium. Without that information, the cook would normally just cook it medium. We do not serve fast food burgers. We load 12 or so burger patties on the grill at lunch time so that we can serve our lunch customers quickly; otherwise, each pattie is made fresh and takes 15 or so minutes. Our regular customers expect a burger with substance, not a fast-food pattie that is so thin it can be cooked in a few minutes. Pulled pork, brisket, ham, and chicken sandwiches will usually be completed in 10 - 15 minutes unless there are a lot of orders ahead of your order. And pizza usually takes 12 - 15 minutes. As for the lettuce and tomato... we receive iceburg lettuce on Wednesdays from our food vendor, which is kept in the refrigerator, and it would be difficult for it to be old or wilted. Tomatoes arrive fresh each Wednesday. They are slice the same day they are used and kept on ice until use. Again, it would be difficult for it to be old. One of every four orders at lunch, and one of every six orders at dinner are burgers. Our burgers are popular with our regular customers and many pictures can be reviewed on both our google page and our facebook page. Overcooking is not an issue often expressed. Sometimes an individual will ask us to cook it a couple of minutes longer, as we normally cook our burgers between medium and medium rare. When you first enter our door there is a waitress station within 12 feet and most times you are greeted and either seated or informed that you can choose which table you would like to be served at. On Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays there are two waitresses for lunch and two waitresses for dinner. Certainly enough waitress help if there are only a few customers in the dining room. On Wednesdays and Thursdays there is only one waitress in the evening, as we typically only serve approximately 16 - 20 people during the dinner hours. If you came in one Wednesday or Thursday night, you may have waited 5 or so minutes before being waited on, if we had the waitress working on another task. Normally, the waitress would not work on other tasks, but the last few weeks I've been volunteering my time with the VFW (next door) to help them get started. Let me know if that was the case and I'll touch base with that waitress. However, that is a short term problem during the initial two or three months of starting up the VFW. I also do not remember hearing any complaints from customers in the dining room during this past week. I wander the dining room on an hourly basis checking with customers and their dining experience, except of course when I was volunteering at the VFW. The waitress and cook also did not express any complications that I needed to attend to.So, as a recap...burgers in the evening usually take about 20 minutes. Lettuce and tomatoes have no reason to be old, and would have been an easy fix for the waitress to get you another lettuce and tomato if the ones you received did not meet your satisfaction. The waitress won't quibble with your request, she will just get you another slice of tomato and lettuce. In fact, we often send out our dressed burgers with the lettuce, tomato, and pickle on top of the toasted bun, not on top of the finished burger.
