All work done by our technician was to code and will protect the AC unit, the existing circuit is a 240 volt 40 amp circuit and the AC unit nameplate calls for a 25 amp max circuit protection. The customer was given the following estimate:OPTION #1 - REMOVE AC CIRCUIT BREAKER - $85.00Remove existing 40 amp QO circuit breaker for A/C condenser and replace with a 25 amp circuit breaker in order to comply with the appliance nameplate requirements.OPTION #2 - AC FUSED DISCONNECT - $200This is an alternate to replacing the circuit breaker as listed above and will provide the service disconnect required by the National Electric Code)Provide and install fused A/C disconnect with 25 amp fuses.Provide and install new liquitite whip and conductors between disconnect and A/CThese two line items were to be done in conjunction with other work that we had bid but the customer declined those items, however they did accept line item #2 to install a fused disconnect. Our estimator spent an hour of travel time plus time doing the estimate. Our technician spent two hours on the job doing the work and spending time with the customer answering questions. In addition our cost on materials for the job without markup was $130.90. We hope this break down assures future customers that we are not cutting corners in order to turn more of a profit and that we go out of our way to make customers happy and leave them with a code compliant install.
