Long live the Bulldog in me. Referred to as 311 or S.O.B. on the 11 meter band. I am known as Son of Bulldog. We will continue to live and love here in the north end of Salina. In honor and loving memory of my late Paternal Grandfather Merle Alan Rowan, Jr. was born March 28, 1941, in Blackwell, Oklahoma to Merle Alan Rowan, Sr. & Esther (Serriere) Rowan Hill Allen. Merle was a Meat Cutter & Market Manager for Safeway and FoodBarn for many years, even transferring his family from the Valley Center/ Wichita to Salina in the late 1960's until Safeway's closing in Salina, afterwards Merle became the Meat Manager for Ashton's Market Full of life and vigor, he often toiled for years with different hobbies such as riding Motocross, from which he attained success at being an all-around rider performing exhibition races in Flat Track, Local Circuit events & Hare Scramble Races on his Mako motorcycle. His love for the sport was passed on to his youngest son Cody Rowan, who had only just began riding motocross in late 1979 and early 1980 quickly became a local legend in the 125cc and 250cc Classes becoming a multiple times over State champion. Before it was known as a real thing Cody Rowan was also known for being the first person to "Triple" a jump in state event history & was even highlighted and becoming an avid CB Ham Radio Operator in the local area, sometimes having multiple antennas from which to broadcast from. His CB handle name became "BullDog" from his love of raising & selling pure-bred EKC papered English Bulldogs under the name of Rowan's Bulldog Breeding Service in the 1970's. Whether it was for a life experience or just something to do for a living Merle even opened up his own used car sales lot in Salina named L&M Auto Sales that used to sit across from where the new Bob's Pawn Shop in Salina. Upon retirement age and took up the hobby of pouring concrete statuary and birdbaths. He and Linda loved fishing and gardening. They planned to do a lot of traveling, Cremation was chosen.
