Hop-A-Lot

Just adding a new review to inform people that the indoor location seems to be permanently closed. Very disappointing because the one time we did visit my child had a great time, was really looking forward to getting to go back this summer. It seems kids Empire at Jordan Creek is the only real alternative to this type of entertainment in the area.

I would put -1 star if I could. FYI for everyone out there with future parties, the indoor location of Hop-A-Lot at 1600 Valley West Dr. Suite 200, West Des Moines, IA has been permanently closed. I booked a party for my sons first birthday at this location in April. I paid the $50 deposit fee. I called them yesterday to see when I should arrive to decorate, left a voicemail since no one answered the phone with my name and phone number. I received NO response back. I arrived for my party today one hour before the scheduled party time and found the building locked. We called them yet again and someone did answer today, and they told us the indoor play area is permanently closed, and they sent an email. The person who took my party reservation didnt ask for an email, only my phone number. They could have picked up the phone when they decided to close and told me so I could have found another venue. DO NOT give a dime to this company.

Updated 5/27/23: Went to the new location at valley west area for the 3rd time today. They informed us that they are closing and no longer doing open jump. Zero social media notification of this. Thankfully my 4 year old was not as disappointed as we thought she would be, but even a sign on the door would have been helpful. There was nothing at all stating this. All of my experiences here scream terrible management. Original review of merle hay location: Hop-a-lot is absolutely not worth $30 for two kids (weekend price). Something is always broken or off limits. Some kind of bumper car situation is sitting there but I have never seen it available for use, disappointing my 9 year old every time. Sand bags broken and pouring sand all over the floor. Bathrooms and water fountains were broken this past weekend. Staff is teenagers that dont even seem to like children and dont bother cleaning. The birthday party option is laughable and awkward, as it sits right next to the windows that look out to the mall, so youll get constant gawking from anyone in the main mall area. We only kept trying because we live very close and our 4 year old always asks to go, but will be checking out other options.
