Iowa dot website says that walk ins are available for a immediate need, but they don't do walk-ins at all anymore.

Most amazing experience I've ever had at the DOT I am 42 years old and the customer service I experienced out at the WAUKEE location was out of this world... I had a gentleman that was a STEELERS fan and a young lady working next to him that was a Kansas City CHIEF FAN (her nails her shoes her earrings her bracelet they were all Kansas City chiefs :) ) tell them thank you for the amazing experience please

I recently turned 21 and went to get my vertical ID changed to a horizontal ID. I arrived in the morning and was assisted quickly. Unfortunately, I was not informed that my signature to agree to terms and conditions would be going on my license. I also was not offered my plastic ID back, which is necessary for commercial travel, which I will do in the next month. I returned to the office to re-do my signature and attempt to retrieve my old plastic ID. Upon arrival, I had to redo my picture as well. I was charged another $10 fee because the first clerk neglected to fully inform me about my license change. The woman supervising the office was extremely helpful on my second visit. Overall I left frustrated that I had been charged a second fee due to the clerks failure to convey all information needed.
