Vander Ploeg Bakery

I like coming here for their Dutch Apple bread, donuts and desert rolls. Nice that you can take a seat inside and enjoy your pastry, and usually less busy than the other bakery.

Dutch letters were amazing but scones where a big disappointment (dry and not tasty). The strudels were ok. So only recommend picking up a few dutch letters and for everything else just go down the street as there are better bakeries!

We were told to go here as there's a more popular bakery in town but they said the Dutch letters are their favorite here. It was Pella's holiday weekend so there was a lot of people. The line was long and I wish they had more than 2-3 people working behind the counter because the line went extremely slow. But I'm sure on a different weekend when there isn't so much action, it's probably faster. I love the vibe and I couldn't take as many pictures because there were so many people and I wanted to respect their privacy. I'm glad there's more competition in town for a great bakery. Both can succeed! Their decorated sugar cookies were amazing!!

THE BEST bakery in Pella! It's a little secret that this small bakery has the freshest products available! Vander Ploeg doesn't freeze their pasties like others and their sweets are made fresh daily! The next time you're in town, do yourself a favor and hit up Vander Ploeg. As a local living here for over 15 years, I can say this is the best bakery in the state! If you're visiting for Tulip Time, don't wait in line for frozen baked goods at another bakery, visit the friendly staff at Vander Ploeg.
