Holiday Inn Express & Suites Dubuque-West, an IHG Hotel

Very disappointed in our stay. Nothing like the other Holiday Inn Express hotels we've stayed in. Needed a remodel badly! Bathroom was in especially poor condition, with dirt and rust in corners, filthy grout, and mold in the shower caulk. We usually stay with another hotel brand, but thought we'd change it up for the final night of our trip. Sorry we did.

Hotel has become run down and dirty. Plugged drain in tub with cracked tile on bathroom floor. Window shades wont close. Elevator carpet is disgusting. Room had been smoked in. NOT worth the price.

Staff was over the top nice!! The place was clean with great finishes. And I love a big breakfast!!

Hallways smelled musty with an added smell of cigarette smoke. There was a dehumidifier fan in the hallway. Hot tub/pool/water fountains in pool area were extremely dirty and poorly maintained. The hot tub had a green ring film on the walls of it and water was cloudy greenish. Our room and linens were clean which is probably the only reason why we stayed instead of heading to a different hotel. Carpet felt sticky or damp. Breakfast we went down at 9 am Sunday. (Breakfast til 10 am). All serving containers were empty. About 20min later biscuits came out then gravy. When we attempted to eat biscuits were frozen in center. The whole dining area was full and waiting for hot food. It was very disappointing. Property is very dated and poorly managed. The only positive I would add is checkin and check out staff was friendly. I would never return to the hotel though unfortunately it was not a comfortable experience. Rooms: Musty damp, there is smoking in the building and with having asthma made my stay very uncomfortable. Food & drinks: Cold and not well managed
