DO NOT USE Michael Cortez, Michael Smith, Mike C., Big Mike or Small Mike (whatever names they operate under in the moment) for ANYTHING! They operate under a variety of different company names, as well, and all it takes is a search on the Iowa Courts Online website to see several different names they've operated under (All Day Roofing, All Around Construction, All Pro Contracting, Simply Roofing and Contracting, Rooftopper Inc, etc.). The company we hired was called All Pro Contracting (and since then, the website says permanently closed). They don't even deserve a 1 star but it requires you to choose at least 1. They asked for payment up front, claiming it was to buy the materials. We gave them the benefit of a doubt because we understand not all small businesses have large lines of equity available to pay for it up front, so we paid them the majority of the quote up front. They said the roof, gutters, garage and siding should take 2 weeks to be complete. They had a crew come through and complete the roof in April 2022 and they got done fairly quickly after they started, but took them FOREVER to actually show up and start the project. Then 3 MONTHS later, they had a single guy come out and side the entire house by himself (supposedly his name was Small Mike). Small Mike's craftsmanship is terrible. Gaps that show bare wood all over (example arounds windows because metal wrap wasn't measured properly), didn't use long enough nails so siding easily pops off the house, siding not attached level, some vents covered over by siding, other vents not even glued or nailed on and just fall off, other vents that should have been installed not installed at all, white stretch marks on the siding from nails underneath the siding, excessive amounts of glue around garden hose spickets/electric boxes because they didn't measure properly, white stretch marks from bending the siding, foam board under the siding sticking out near the foundation of the house and visible around windows because their j channel and siding measurements weren't accurate, the patio cover they installed was supposed to be white but it was clear, they hung a door and didn't put the trim piece on the door and so there is room for critters to enter, etc.... we could go on and on and on, this is just SOME of the issues. We approached him and some of the things he said he would fix and some of the things he treated us like we didn't know what we were talking about and gave us excuses. Small Mike started the siding job in June 2022 and we confronted him in September 2022 the things that were done poorly and needed re-done, as well as, the things that were not done at all like the quote stated. He stopped showing up for quite a while after that. Since September 2022, we have communicated very clearly to "Big Mike" on multiple occasions what needs finished, as well as, redone before we finish paying the bill and multiple times he said he'd send Small Mike out, but lots of no shows and empty promises. But then when it's convenient for them, they show up and complain because we aren't there (we are at work). Big Mike has been harassing us on-off since September for final payment, but the work has yet to be done and it's January 2023! Again, do yourself a major favor and AVOID AT ALL COSTS so you don't have to deal with a similar situation!!!! Read other reviews, as well. Not a single review that we've found has been a positive one. And again, the Iowa Courts Online shows they've been taken to court by insurance companies and home owners! Did subpar work (garage repair and siding). Asked for cash and insisted I use a phone app to send money. Did not clean up or haul away trash left over from project. Avoid at all cost!
