I would have put 5 stars until today dealing with the Dr assistant Nichole. I emailed for a link for my appointment because the original link was not working. I called finally cuz I got nothing. So I basically was dropped for a no show appointment because I did not have a link for the appointment that worked. Was called a liar by Nichole. So now here I sit and try to find a Dr to do my meds. A person like this should NOT work with mental health patients. You crossed the line by calling me a liar and all I was trying to do is get a link that worked for my appointment. Apparently that's too much to ask for.

I am a first year college student at UNI. I live over 3 hours away from home. I have been struggling with anxiety and depression for a long time. I was looking to finally reach out and get help. I researched therapists and found one at this location that I thought would be a good fit. I called the office today. First question, what is your insurance? My family recently got on Medicaid while my dad is in between jobs. She said she would check on it and call me back. I never got a call back about the insurance. So I went ahead and emailed the therapist I wanted to try out. She told me that I could pay out of pocket for services, but if I wanted to do so I would have to go to a different person at the office. Neither gave me the chance to say that regardless if insurance covered, my family and I wanted me to find a therapist that would help me. I felt very discouraged after this experience. I was hoping that the people at this office would have asked more questions or seemed like they actually cared enough to see what I was even looking for. It took months for me to get the courage to reach out for help and actually give therapy a try, and it just made me feel worse.

If you're looking for a therapist/counselor that puts in the bare minimum effort and drops you as soon as you're "not making enough progress" to be worth their time, look no further than the Cedar Falls office of Covenant Family Solutions! Even if you're in crisis and on the verge of being hospitalized, their best advice seems to be "take a break from therapy". If you enjoy having your appointments cut short or your fear of abandonment realized by the very people who are supposed to help, I can't think of a better place to go!
