We stayed at Mortensen Heights for 2 years and greatly enjoyed our stay. The apartments are well built with great appliances, the Ames Racket gym membership was a huge plus!

I rented with Unique at two different units: The Heights on Lincoln Swing and 230 Campus Ave. My experience with them has been indifferent. At the heights, most things were nice and I don't have any memorable complaints other than the maintenance team leaving messes every time they came. One time I had to replace a bunch of items in my bathroom because they sprayed paint everywhere. Neighbors can be loud and do not pick up after their pets too. The good weighed out the bad so I'd give that place 4/5 stars for college students. At 230 Campus Ave, my experience is much worse. First, our unit was not cleaned before our move-in day. We actually walked in on the cleaning team sitting around our uncleaned unit and left when we showed up at move-in time. On their way out, they said to "look out for roaches" and we ended up cleaning the place ourselves. But the biggest complaint I have with this place is the lack of insulation under our kitchen sinks. I notified Unique about the problem in early November and expressed my concern about freezing pipes when it gets super cold. This went ignored. Now that it's January, our pipes are freezing causing leaks and backups. We know this is happening in the unit above us as well, but can't speak for others. Today is the second time we had to deal with freezing pipes and its still January. They've acknowledged the fact that it gets cold under the sink and sent out a memo to all tenants to leave their sink cabinets open to keep pipes from freezing. This is a significant nuisance that I wish we were informed about before signing here. Other notable things: they take days to weeks to salt/sand the steep hills to the parking lots making it impossible to drive up them at times. The community washers and dryers routinely break and it takes about a month for them to be replaced or fixed. I'd give this place 1/5 stars and do not recommend living here.

Ive been living in the same building for about two years now. I was fairly pleased with my experience here for my first year but now it is genuinely horrible. I cannot stress enough do not rent with Unique Ames. They dont care at all about their residents. Our building has absolutely no security measures. There are no cameras, the main doors dont lock, nobody enforces parking. The walls in the whole building look like they have been painted 20 different shades of off-white by a 5 year old. Maintenance is fairly quick to repair small things within units, but when it comes to shared spaces it is truly a nightmare. In my building we all share a laundry room of which has 4 washers and 4 dryers. For the past 8 months, only 1-2 machines have been functional. I only discovered this after having an entire load of laundry ruined and shredded by one of the machines. Unique was quick to apologize when I called but dragged their feet when I demanded a refund on the clothes that were ruined in the load. Parts of my bike were also stolen in my apartments parking lot. The rental company of course did nothing because there are no security cameras. I will never sign a lease with unique ames again, and I recommend you do the same.

Loved my experience with unique however the apartment situation was a nightmare. Moving in august finding the apartment stinking of cat pee, stained carpets and after moving in completely they said they would replace it. Begging for the next renters to have the carpet replaced before they move in so they don't have to have the experience we had. For an entire month we lived in horrible conditions that no one should have to be in. Molded washing machine made it unable to do laundry for a month as well. Unfortunately the list went on. Not having keys for a week so couldn't lock apartment, missing items, and not having a mail key for a month. So so so disappointing and frustrating. The fact that we were allowed to move in with the conditions of the apartment was unprofessional and unbelievable. I dont know how we weren't given credit or rent deducted because it was horrible. Can't say I recommend moving forward.
