Disappointed... UPDATED REPLY TO 2nd STORE Responce: Ok i see you really want this public: good, lets clarify: so you said "we are a family owned small business, and we have been warned by Amazon not to put labels directly onto product boxes" That is one thing, now i called Amazon customer service and asked "if i received a item from Amazon delivered on my doorstep in a manufacturer carboard box with thier product logo and sku, and im instructed to return it customer packed, do i need to place it inside another box?" "No, just return it as it was mailed to you". So that covers my return i made that day, i was correct there. My return was a Product box IN a Product box, which i explained Twice! But noone would hear it. So maybe your store was putting lables on boxes people opened and didn't put back in the manufacture shipped box? Do you see the difference here? There indeed are two different ways to interpret your statement. Regardless, the issue was how store staff handled a situation where there were 2 different perspective. Trying to force a customer to buy a box, And making a public spectacle of it, treating customers like that instead of a mutual resolve. Even when the customer was in the right. ---------------- INITIAL REPLY TO STORE Responce: To the owner, It seems you just see an angry customer. Either your not listening or dont care. Offering a free box afterwards is kinda insulting and doesn't fix the issue. Now, if i were a boss, (oh wait, i am) i try to find solutions: So i understand what your saying, however please understand this: i did call Amazon after that and the CS rep didn't have any knowledge about it. Maybe its just certain manufacturers. I follow the return instructions from the Amazon site. It doesn't matter who's right or wrong, you dont beat your customers over the head and force your opinions like that. Next time this happens maybe 'Offer your customers a FREE BOX' at the visit since after you scan the return its too late to go home and repackage. Just my humble opinion... ORIGINAL REVIEW: I was returning one of many items that came defective these days and the amazon return stated: Return in manufactures packaging". This item was all sealed in its box, and placed in a heaving shipping carboard box just as delivered, however it was covered in a really thin cellophane that just shreds as you open it, there is no saving some of them! The store clerk argued with me about the heavy cardboard box claiming it needed another cardboard box around it. "No, this is how it arrived at my house, i said." " Its already In its manufacture delivered shipping box!" Then a young fellow heard the conversation and preceded to tell me it needed some other box because it didn't have the bar code on it. I explained this was on the shredded cellophane that wasn't reusable. He demanded i not ship it because then the manufacture couldn't resell it, despite my retort that they put product on the shelves all the time with big yellow stickers and whatever else they do to add a new bar code should that be needed! I followed the amazon return instructions the best i could, but was publicly admonished by these people and was being forced to buy yet another box, which wouldn't even solve their argument! Now when i walk in, thoses who were there that day wont say hi, they shoot me a nasty look. Shame on you, your ego and pride got in the way of resolving an issue. This doesn't make you right, and shoving your beliefs down on customers is just wrong!

UPDATE: Sorry about the inadequate solution! We were sincerely trying to help, but we didn't realize you ended up processing your return that day. Unfortunately, our opinion has nothing to do with it. If we had it our way we would accept all returns as-is, but the fact remains that we receive our instructions directly from Amazon through our corporate headquarters. We understand this is frustrating for you, but we are sincerely trying to help while still operating within the parameters Amazon provides us, and it appears there is a disconnect between their customer service and the instructions provided to us. That said, here is a recap of the return process for each type of returns. We truly hope that it helps make the process easier moving forward. There are three ways to process an Amazon return at The UPS Store, and it is the same at all 5,000+ locations. The method is determined by Amazon while you are processing the return in the app or on their website. Amazon has provided us with specific instructions on how to process each type of return. The first, and most common, is with a “No Box No Label” QR code. This code allows you to bring in your item as-is, and we will pack it up for you. The second is with a “Customer Packed” QR code. With this code your return needs to be in some sort of shipping vessel. Any shipping vessel will do (e.g., shipping bag, shipping mailer, box, etc.). If you do not bring one with you, your options are to bring it back with one, or purchase one from us. The third is with an Amazon provided shipping label. This type of return is treated exactly the same as the “Customer Packed” QR code.We are required to follow those instructions until told otherwise by Amazon through our corporate headquarters. If you would like to discuss this further, the owner will gladly speak with you in person or on the phone, whichever is most convenient for you.ORIGINAL RESPONSE: Hi! So sorry you had a disappointing experience at our store, and we completely understand your frustration. We really try to make your experience as seamless and easy as possible, while still following the instructions provided to us by Amazon. We are a family owned small business, and we have been warned by Amazon not to put labels directly onto product boxes, so applying the label directly to your product box would have put your refund and the store at risk, so we were simply doing our best to protect you as well as the store. We're sincerely sorry about your experience, but we hope you understand that the return process is out of our control. However, we are happy to make it up to you. You can call us at 219.464.4245, or stop by the store, and the owner would be happy to provide you with a complementary box or bag to return your item. We hope to see you again soon!
