Dan, first of all I am sorry to hear that you were dissatisfied with State Farm and my agency. I want to make it clear that whether or not you have a claim is no detriment to me or my “bonus”. Even if it were the case, I would only do right by my customer anyway. Unlike most insurance agents, I take the filing of claims very seriously as even a denied claim impacts a policyholder’s claim history. For this, I recommend that a local, trusted restoration contractor (of your choice or one of the two I recommend if not myself) go and inspect the potential loss first to make sure that we feel confident that the damage is great enough that we feel the insurance company will pay out. It was the opinion of the contractor I recommended that there was not sufficient damage to warrant filing a claim. When this happens, a contractor is basically donating his time with the hopes of uncovering a job opportunity, so it is his goal to find enough damage to report to us that we should file. There are just as many “yes” as there are “no” over the course of a year. I know this process because prior to agency, I was that contractor for many local agents and it’s a great lead source for such a contractor and will continue as long as he is not saying “yes” and showing up to the adjuster inspection to be told “no” so that we both have egg on our faces. All that being said, I do NOT feel that this 1-star review is warranted and accept zero blame for any of this. I wish you well and hope that you had success with filing a claim with your new insurer.
