ARK Renovations

I have just filed a complaint with the BBB and the Indiana Attorney Generals office against Rick McGinnis of Ark Renovations LLC. We hired Rick McGinnis to renovate a house that we bought. After performing some work including doors, windows, vinyl siding and electrics he stopped work at the end of October. Apart from plumbing (which was installed according to KY code and not IN) all work has ceased. He has not done a lick for 5.5 months. He consistently ignores phone calls, texts and emails. There is a whole slew of people with valid complaints against Rick McGinnis and Ark Renovations LLC. He has numerous pending and decided court cases against him, including one from a Police Officer and a Roofing Company. We have given him three drawings totalling over $62,000 and by my estimation he owes us more than half of that for work paid for but not completed. We are now going to somehow come up with the money to get the project completed. I am beyond angry at being taken by this shyster. Please be warned.

We cannot recommend Ark Renovations LLC on State ST. in New Albany, IN for any job. In Feb. 2022 we hired Ark Renovations LLC/ Rick McGinnis Jr. to finish app. 615 sq. ft of unfinished basement space. They began work on March 21, 2022. As of June 7th, they had only been on the job site 15 days out of nearly 60 weekdays. Rick McGinnis Jr had verbally told us it would take between 35-45 days. Some of the days they were only on the job site for a couple of hours, some days not showing up until 11:00 and later. We asked on many occasions to be informed when they would or would not be on the job. That seldom happened so we wasted a lot of our personal time waiting on them. Rick McGinnis Jr.went days/weeks at a time and did not communicate with us. We had our attorney send ARK a Demand letter mid-August to get them back to work. ARK gave the attorney a conditional completion date of August 30, 2022. By October 31, 2022, they still were not finished. We finally fired Ark Renovations on Nov. 1, 2022, due to substandard work and not giving any real effort to finishing the job. We have many pictures of the substandard work they performed. They had people painting without lighting, Some of the area has no windows so they were painting by the light on their cell phones. The paint job was so horrible in some areas that we had them change the trim paint color to try and camouflage the bad paint job. The walls probably have 6 coats of paint because they had to repair bad drywall work so many times and then repaint. ARK will post finished jobs as “Beautiful Custom”, charge “Beautiful Custom” prices, but will use of some the cheapest contractor grade materials they can find unless you go purchase them yourself. We have many pictures to support this claim. We have spent many hours doing repair and touch up to their “Beautiful Custom” work.

Ark had a home remodel to do at my property, spent two years and never completed it. I have text messages and pictures to show how bad the work they did was. I also have text messages from the owner stating he would come make things right with my home. The chimney and roof leaked after his several attempts to fix it, he got paid in full but never finished anything here. My pole barn was also paid in full, but in the contract, which I still have, he states he would run electric and water to it, and never did. He also stated he would put in my electric garage door openers, he never did that but kept the product to do it, that I paid for. I have several pictures as well. He also damaged barns on my property when his team tried to do other things around my barns. They damaged the roof of one of my barns and put holes in the side of it from the excavator that I paid for, for them to use, and they took it and used it on other jobs, but I rented it for them to use only at my home. He built a deck that has nails instead of deck screws in half of it when they ran out of screws, the nails are what they resorted to. I paid in full for everything done on my property but never got the finished product out of any of it. I gave them one star because theres no option to give 0 stars
