My mother was a tenant at Norman Manor from November to March when she passed suddenly. The morning of her passing tenants and staff were yelling at me as I was attempting to take her to an appointment for her cancer treatments. She was not feeling well, only complaint was "dizzy", and sat in a chair in the lobby. She tried to adjust her position in the chair and ended upsliding to the floor. At that moment ladies exiting the elevator started screaming at me asking if she was ok. When my only response was she's dizzy but fine. They preceded to keep asking so with a stern voice I repeated she's fine. They then started asking if we were even tenants. I said she was and they told me I needed to find some respect in speaking to them. Literally only repeated the words she's fine. They told staff not to ask me if she was ok cuz I would rip off anyone's head. The tenants need to mind their own busines! She passed that afternoon and upon arriving to get a few things from her apartment different tenants were questioning myself, my brother, and our partners on whether we were residents. When the relentless questioning didnt subside my brother's girlfriend asked them to leave us alone as our mother had passed. Those tenants HAD THE AUDACITY TO ASK IF SHE OVERDOSED! I understand Marion is riddled with drugs and overdoses but SO DISRESPECTFUL that we even were asked that. Upon being told when we needed to have her things out Mr. Tom Eastus said to let him know if there was anything we didnt want they would take it as a donation to the "many homeless individuals" that they provide housing for. The kitchen table and chairs my mother had in her apartment had been given to me and I had no need for it or anywhere to take it. I left it as a donation, notified Mr. Eastus, and when they mailed me her security deposit back charged $40.00 from that security deposit to remove the table and chairs. Not much of a donation if I had to pay to leave it. I could have just posted it to the grant county free sites on Facebook but I figured it was going to go to someone who needed it more than I did!
