A church that embraces the familial affections that should be had in the household of faith! - Sound, exegetical preaching - Pure administration of the sacraments - a beacon of light in the midst of the restless chasing of tails that seems so prevalent in many evangelical churches!

Madison Reformed Church is a church plant of the URNCA (United Reformed Church of North America). When you read "Reformed" in Madison Reformed, think of the protestant reformation that took place during the 1500s. I suppose that there are many "distinctives" of any church but I'll name a few really important ones that should encourage you to attend Madison and worship the Lord with the fellow believers there. For one, if you have always gone to a standard evangelical church, you'll notice that there is a much more intentional structure (in my opinion) to the "order of service" at Madison Reformed. From the outset, it's clear that the worship service is focused on working out the trinitarian nature of the Christian faith. We are worshiping our One God, Father Son and Holy Spirit, after all. To neglect this doctrine is to neglect the object of our worship. This focus is expressed in all the elements of the service: announcement of entering God's presence, a reading from the law (e.g., the ten commandments, the prophets), confession of sin, reading from the gospel, a declaration of the forgiveness of sin, prayer, singing, teaching, etc. Every last drop of the service is either singing, praying, reciting, reading, or expositing the Word of God. For example, psalm singing is a largely lost practice among the churches today. But, Madison Reformed sings them. (Wasn't that one of the reasons God gave us the book of the Psalms?) Madison is also a "confessional" church. It's easy to know what Madison Reformed believes because they subscribe to what is called the "three forms of unity". The reformation was a pressure cooker, and unlike modern day pressure cookers, this one produced some rock solid and tasty "what we believe" documents. Google search these: The Belgic Confession, The Heidelberg Catechism, The Canons of Dort. But wait, there's more. Madison Reformed also subscribes to the ancient creeds that reflect the theological battles fought to preserve the Christian faith: Apostle's Creed, Nicene Creed, Athanasius Creed. Madison Reformed has great leadership. Doctrinally sound, gentle in heart, firm in the faith, and above reproach. In summary, if you're clicking around reading this review there are even odds that you're actually considering attending a church this Sunday. Whether you are a "reformed" Christian or just wanting to see what it's all about...don't just stay at home. Human beings were created by God to worship God. An essential element of that are the public exercises of worship on what the Bible calls "the Lord's Day". So come on out and make it happen. May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you.
