I visited Dr. Bruce B. Wiland, DDS in Kokomo, IN for dental implants in 2021. While I had hoped for a professional and smooth experience, several issues arose that were contrary to the way a dental office and business should conduct itself. I would advise you seek the service of other oral surgeons for your periodontal, dental implant, and cosmetic services. Sometime after treatment with this office, I discovered I was incorrectly charged for procedures on my credit card. Without my knowledge, I was mistakenly charged $7996.00 in August of 2021 for their entire proposed treatment plan, which included treatment for a tooth 4 months prior to my actual agreement and the procedure date. This administrative error led to unexpected and substantial principal & interest charges that were distressing and time-consuming to resolve. Additionally, there were issues missed by Dr. Wiland that were discovered by my general dentist, and I was left with missing teeth for an additional 9 months while those issue were resolved. When I brought these issues to the attention of this office they were ignored, and I was forced to provide payment to another oral surgeon for follow-up care already paid for with Dr. Wiland. First, I attempted to resolve the billing issue directly with the office on numerous occasions, speaking with Olivia, and was told it didnt matter since the procedure was eventually performed. Despite multiple and additional efforts to reach out and resolve these issues, I received no communication from the office. When contacting our insurance company, I discovered that 2 days after the procedure was actually performed (December 2021), a representative from their office (Jessica) requested that the billing for the mistaken date in August be deleted due to a billing error and moved to December. This error was not shared with me. Finally, I was forced to dispute the interest charges directly with my credit card company. They required the dental office to submit documentation of my agreement to the charges. Dr. Wilands office was unable to provide this required documentation, and CareCredit eventually refunded the entire principal and interest. During this long process, I informed the office I would be directing CareCredit to return the principal amount of the completed procedures once I received the interest refund check. I learned Wilands office was provided an additional period of time to provide the required documentation; they were still unable to produce this, and I eventually received the interest refund check in September of 2023. Dr. Wilands office sent this to collections prior to me receiving the interest refund check and are also attempting to bill me an additional $4,000.00 over principal for their administrative error. Ive hired our attorney to resolve on my behalf. I own a retail business, one where credit cards and similar interest-free agreements are accepted. This is a totally unacceptable way of conducting business, especially when dealing with a patients credit and personal information. While I understand that errors can occur in any business, the lack of accountability with this office is disappointing. I am sharing this review not out of malice but in the hope that it brings attention to areas where Dr. Wiland and IndyPerio can improve. I believe Dr. Wiland to be a generally good guy however I believe every patient deserves attentive care, clear communication and transparent billing. You will not receive it with this office.
