First off, let me say that the staff was friendly, but you could definitely tell they didnt want to be there. I felt like I was constantly inconveniencing them because I had a question about my self-checkin.
Second, they didnt have the dollies that I rented and no one told me!! I found out myself when I did the bed check before leaving! They put me with a truck that didnt have a dolly knowing I rented 2 of them! When I asked why would the system let me book 2 dollies if you had none, the employee informed me that, U-Haul doesnt know our inventory.
Like I said at first, everyone was friendly, but I always feel like I have to do a lot more work to rent a truck with U-Haul. This will be my last time unfortunately. Ill look elsewhere from now on. Thank you

Can't say the experience was a good one. They stated that the truck had 7/8 tank of gas on the report. More like 5 /8. Realized the discrepancy when I compared my photo to the report my fiance had in her car. So I called. The man I spoke with treated me like the problem. Did I click this link or do that. No. I didn't get a link. I took a photo in your lot my guy. They didn't go out and make sure of the fuel level, just marked it with a highlighter. They didn't clean the blankets or trash out of the back. But they treat the customer like the issue. Great business model.

Called ahead to confirm they had propane on hand and I could fill a class-C RV ASME tank (Ill note Ive filled up this same RV and others at this location multiple times over the years). Waited on hold about 5 minutes (no problem) and Mark said they had propane and could fill me anytime thru 6:30PM. Collected my RV from storage and drove straight over.
Arrived at 5PM, and parked near the propane bay. I couldnt pull my RV right up alongside the propane fill because they had 2 long box trucks nose to tail blocking the end of the bay. The next parking aisle next to the box trucks was completely open, so I knew thisd be an easy fill. Walked in and met Mark at the desk, no other customers in line. I said Id called ahead for RV propane fill. He looked out the window and asked if I could pull up. I explained its an RV so the tank is on the side, and to get close Ill pull up parallel to their propane filling points bollards, so if we move the last truck into the empty aisle right next to it, itd be a snap.
I walked out and waited while he got his hat and keys. When he made it out he said I cant reach it there. I said I understood, and thats why one single truck needs to be moved 10. He said you expect me to move all these trucks? No, we need to move 1 truck right next to the truck thats in front of it, and then if you need it here, it can go right back in place as soon as were done. Then he decided he wanted me to take the tank out. This is an ASME frame mounted tank, not a portable cylinder. They dont come out. After I explained that, Mark said well, I need your paperwork showing its new within the last 10 years. Mark, this is a tank, not a cylinder. ASME TANKS dont get replaced every 10 years like DOT CYLINDERS. Theyre two completely different things. He just kept repeating he cant fill a propane cylinder without a picture showing its under 10 years old because his boss said so. I said Lets call the boss and see if he says so when its a TANK and not a CYLINDER. Mark didnt want to do that, now because its all about your safety, and said I should just go to the KOA down the road. Mark, if you cant fill it because of my safety (while were both standing here staring at a perfectly clean, rust-free, well maintained TANK), why are you sending me to somewhere else to get it filled? Just move the one truck, call your boss, and lets get this TANK filled. Nope. Mark needed to get back inside to another game of Angry Birds.
Ive rented from U-Haul multiple times a year for many years, and filled up with propane at locations all across the country. Folks like Mark give U-haul the bad reputation they have, which sadly overshadows all of the excellent U-haul employees Ive dealt with over the years.
If you absolutely have to come to this location, be prepared to deal with this sort of situation.
Better yet, go to the KOA/Louisville North Campground at the next exit south. The folks there were quick to service the fill and pleasant to deal with. Heck, if Grumpy Mark can explicitly recommend them and send all of the business there VS his own location, I cant imagine a better review!
Hopefully someone will let Mark know that the $50 in propane is the smallest U-haul purchase many of us make, but how that transaction gets treated influences the thousands of dollars we (or our businesses) spend annually with rental agencies.
