Howard Steamboat Museum

We made the trip to the Howard Steamboat Museum from Northern Kentucky on a Thursday and it was well worth the trip to Jeffersonville, Indiana. We were greeted inside the entrance and watched a short video before touring the first floor with the tour guide, who was very knowledgeable about the history of the Howard family and the boat building along the Ohio River in Jeffersonville in the late 1800s and early 1900s. My wife and I grew up in Cincinnati but had no idea how big the boat building industry was just down the river, near Louisville, KY. We did a self guided tour of the second and third floors to see the many steamboat models, boat building tools as well as the beautiful Howard family mansion. We had a great time on our visit and will definitely be back to the Howard Steamboat Museum with friends and family.

Pretty cool house full of local history of shipping and boats. Took the self guided tour, it was nice to look around. Down the street is a little park with a walking bridge to Kentucky, pretty cool!

This is an amazing tour! Very knowledgeable volunteers and the home is very well taken care of.
