We placed my grandma on the memory care unit, she was in this facility for roughly 5 months, it was a horrible experience. She was admitted at the weight of 70-75lbs, and had gotten down to 57lbs. She fell at this facility repeatedly! They stated, "she has the right to fall, there is nothing they can do about it". Some falls were charted, & we were notified, others were not. They claim she always tried to get up by herself & when you ask her about it, she stated that she needed to use the restroom, no one would come & help. It got to a point where every time I came up there, she had new bandages on & new skin tears. When I ask how they happened they first acted like they didn't even know they were there & then proceeded to say they "didn't know" or "I don't usually work back here so I don't know". When I ask Gma how they happened she always said, "I fell". She developed an open bed sore on her bottom. She was placed on hospice due to the extreme weight loss. Her bandages were nasty, & you could tell they hadn't been changed. The bandage on her bottom for the bed sore I saw halfway off, bed sore exposed, the white part of the bandage frayed, you could tell it hadn't been changed. When I asked about this, they placed the blame on hospice at first stating they are supposed to change it, then later said the order says change every 3 days regardless if its soiled or not intact any longer. Her legs & feet were super swollen, I kept asking about it, they just kept acting like they didn't see what I saw. The bottom of her pants was always wet. When the hospice nurse was there, I asked about it, they checked & come to find out her legs were leaking fluid from all the edema. The lack of accountability here is tremendous. The end result of all of this from their standpoint was "it was all a lack of communication". The unit has gnats/drain flies flying all over the place, on their food. The facility states they are working with a company to fix it. Their food comes delivered lukewarm at best. The bathrooms smell like sewage. There are zero gloves or linens readily available. The unit itself is just dark & dingy, looks dirty, feels dirty & doesn't smell good. When you walk into the unit you will see aides & nurses sitting on their phone, walking around talking on their Bluetooth. The music playing on the radio is the likings of the aides & nurses not the resident's generation of music. My grandma just always looked a mess, hair a mess, teeth a mess, breathe horrible, same socks she had on the day before. She was always in bed!! Eventually, hospice staff suggested we move her to another facility because she was not receiving the care she should be & she was transferred out. The administrator always made a point to say hello & check in with us whenever she saw us. After things started going down hill & on the day we transferred Gma out, we made eye contact several times & she didn't say a word, no apology, no I'm sorry we failed her. The facility does have a few good aides & nurses, a very welcoming & friendly receptionist & an awesome social worker. I'd like to say this. I was a nursing assistant in LTC for 28 years & before I would have ever delivered such poor care to residents, I would have hung up my scrubs & got into a new profession. Why do you come to work every day? If your answer is a job, a paycheck, then get out of the business! This type of work is a calling, it's a passion. CNA class only teaches you the technical skills, that anyone can learn. It does not teach you the skills that cannot be taught, the skills you either have or you don't. Compassion, empathy, true care & concern, listening, observation, & humanity just to name a few. I would not recommend this facility to anyone.

This place does not smell or look like a a typical nursing home. The team seems to have fun with each other and know the people. I have recommended people there.
