I drove around for two months, only to realize we arent paid for our activity. I walked into 20+ businesses per day, soliciting a supplemental life and health insurance. We also had to cold call businesses with a fake alias, lying about who and what we are. People often hung up, which they were fully justified in doing. Being brand new to insurance, I didnt have a reference level to realize this was wrong. I wasnt allowed to leave a business card or anything, which made this even more questionable. In fact, prospects declined specifically for the fact that we dont leave brochures or any information, in which they were entirely justified. This company claims this is a 1099 situation but they will actively regulate your number of stops and overall schedule as if you were a full-time employee. They benefit from exploiting desperate people for free labor. I only hope to warn others before they fall for this as I did.

1. They dont pay you ANYTHING unless you make a close. They will have you driving all over the place, walking into countless businesses soliciting their product and experiencing negative confrontation all for no compensation. For training, I was driving 1-2 hours away every day for 2 weeks to meet with my trainer to ride around in their car all day. Again, no compensation for training whatsoever. 2. You have to screen your own leads by lying to them. They literally have you use a fake name and number to call a list of businesses in your area, telling them youre updating public records in order to ask them who owns the business, how many employees and where its located. They act extremely supportive and kind towards you, but when you question them they get defensive. They use favors as a manipulative tool against you. The owner paid for most of my license education program. They use a lot of positive reinforcement such as little rewards for making a lot of phone calls, or Rookie if the Week recognitions. If you are new and you work hard they help you in the beginning by writing you a tiny check if their surplus commissions which is typically less than $500.
