We had an excellent experience with Shelterwood and David Lantz when we built our home. David was thorough, helpful, and thoughtful in helping us find and fine tune our design, and his crew was committed to providing quality workmanship. We always get compliments on our home, both on the exterior and the interior, and we love living here! We've been so pleased with the results, we brought Shelterwood back to finish our basement, and we will soon be having them design a tea house for our backyard. It truly is a pleasure to work with someone who understands our vision and helps us make it a reality--both aesthetically and sustainably.

We worked with Shelterwood and Dave Lantz to enclose our screened patio and add an addition to the back of our house. As a local real estate broker, I have worked with a variety of builders and contractors in my 30 year career, and Shelterwood is at the top of my list. Dave and his crew were very easy to work with in a timely manner. Their quality, attention to detail, and workmanship were exceptional. I would highly recommend Shelterwood, and would happily provide a reference anytime.

We bought a house from Shelterwood that had been remodeled and updated in 2016. Seven years later, Shelterwood came back to further customize the house with a studio, skylights and built-ins. Now the house is even better, and we couldn't be more pleased with how it turned out. Highly recommend David Lantz and his crews.

This past September I purchased a house that had been built by Shelterwood Builders / David Lantz in 2009. The house was beautiful but after moving in we decided to customize it to our wishes. We contacted David to assist us with our addition / modifications. We added an addition to the home to enlarge the living room and remodeled other parts of the home (by taking out walls and enlarging rooms). David and his crews were excellent to work with and were prompt in getting work completed as scheduled. They took extra care to do their best to keep the worksite as clean as possible (which was important since it was in our living area). David was very responsive to any questions we had during the process and kept us informed of the progress every step of the way. We are extremely happy the finished work and have had many friends tell us the addition and modifications look like they were part of the original design of the house when it was first built. David has turned our new home into our forever home so hopefully we wont be needing a builder in the future but if we ever do we most definitely will be contacting David (just as we have referred him to several friends and family members who are needing a contractor). Great job David and crew!!!

Shelterwood Builders did an exceptional job doing a major remodel of my healthcare clinic in Bloomington. The project required 9-months of demolition, rebuilding, and major structural changes. Usually a project of this magnitude is done on an empty building. The major challenge for Shelterwood was to work around everything with patients and staff inside. What could have been seen as extremely intrusive was just the opposite. The crew was courteous, careful, clean, as quiet as could be, and extremely professional. Remodeling a building with the clients and staff inside is a near impossibility. Shelterwood did it with poise and expertise. We have received countless number of compliments on a very beautiful and functional remodel. Thanks so much to Dave Lantz and Shelterwood for a job well done. A few years later, I contracted Dave to build a large out-building garage and pavilion behind my personal residence. We experienced the same expertise and professionalism with these projects. Dave is an exceptional builder and stand up guy who is communicative and tremendously honest & trustworthy.
