        I really like this spot but can't give it 5 stars as that's not what they're about. They're not a 5 star place. It's not a 4 star place. It's a Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives kinda joint. It's just a cool spot to hang and have some decent food and drinks. I have to say I was shocked at how much I loved the smoked Italian beef. Flavor wise not what you're expecting but holy great taste. The Cubano was crazy good. Broasted chicken was juicy but crispy on the outside. I was shocked at how much we enjoyed hanging out here. Will def be back!

        Food was pretty subpar. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich. Nothing really out of the ordinary. My brother got the Mac and cheese and said it was pretty bland. I had high expectations as I usually do with all bbq joints. I was expecting lots of flavor and didnt really get that. Def a one time stop for me, I just simply wasnt impressed. Not trying to be rude, just an honest review. The server was very nice though.

        This is not the first time but it will be my last time!! They were out of pulled pork and that consists on their menu just a few! Pork boat. Cuban. Moo and oink. This is why the Yorkville people need a good BBQ place. Its just not this one. Brian

        I recommend this place. Found it recently and have been there twice. The ribs are really good. Not fall off the bone, but still very tender. Collard greens are very good and so are the baked beans and cheesy potatoes. Go eat here. But beware, like most bbq places, if you wait too long, they will run out of your favorites Update. Ordered ribs today and they were inedible. Way too tough. Not good. Hope it was just a bad day

      Southbank Original Barbecue is located right along the beautiful Fox River in downtown Yorkville. We offer meaty favorites such as pulled pork, wings, drummies, ribs, and so much more. All of our BBQ is wood-cooked and homemade, served to order and delicious every time.Our restaurant doesn't use any fryers. Nothing is deep fried and each item off of our menu is made fresh. We also make our own spice rubs, sauces, and side dishes - the unique options you have to choose from separates us from the competition! We're open late every night of the week and look forward to serving you.

      Brian, we ran out due to the very busy weekend we had. EVERY BBQ joint runs out of food, it's expected. And for us that's a good thing because that means people like it and come in for it. Our smoked meats are made fresh not frozen, so if we run out we have plenty of other options.
